Lady Gaga to use Princess Diana as focus for next album

Numerous sources are saying that Lady Gaga has written her comeback single as a tribute to Princess Diana and that the whole album in general could be a take on the dark side of fame. While this sounds exciting to an extend does anyone think it is wrong of her to create some Diana controversy, Paul Berrull style, just to sell her records?

Can't help but feel she is trying to cash in on a dead womans memory. We haven't long to wait as its rumoured to debut in September.

I'm sure Diana was used for 'inspiration' rather than the song being a tribute to, or about Diana.

Following her rip-off routine of Madonna, I'm sure she'll release a song called "Wind Blowing On Candles"

Good grief. Does anyone remember the late 90's when a good 99.9% of songs/lyrics meant absolutely nothing at all?

Sometimes I miss those days.

Here is one source:

As for Diana.. well she mentioned her in 'Dance in the Dark' and did mention her in some interviews last year regarding a fear of dying young.. so perhaps it's possible.

I can't imagine it being tackier or cringier than Candle in the Wind. Fifteen years on, it still gives me such an embarassment squick.

If that's true I won't touch that album with a barge pole.

People seriously need to move on from Diana.

I hope this is a joke.

Otherwise it could be cringey.

Mind you Lady Gaga has an inherent tendancy to want to go completely up her own bottom....

'Dance in the Dark' wasn't tacky. In fact, it's the best song she's had IMO. If she sticks within that quality it should be fine.

That said, the 'Fame Monster' already dealt with this theme. Perhaps she's just expanding on it.

It's predictable how everyone are eye-rolling because it's 'Gaga'. Yet, whenever she's referenced other people, it's always been tame and subtle at best. Often handled well enough. When she refers to people in interviews and such (including Diana) it's been in good spirit. I should think she knows what she's doing.

No, it's not fake; apparently the song is called White Rose Thorns, and they lyrics that surfaced were good. White rose...thorns...you get it. It could be quite beautiful, poetic and powerful too.

Maybe her friendship with Elton has inspired her in some way for this then...

I think Candle in the Wind is one of the worst songs ever. Partly because of how overplayed it was. You literally couldn't escape it.

At least, the best Diana song is Paris Nights by David Brent!

Aww I loved it at the time (1997) lol. I was only 8 though so I also loved a lot of other chart toppers haha.

I guess it depends how she goes about it. It might end up being a nice little reflective number but if she goes OTT for the video and ends up being seen as over eager then it could backfire on her. The media would go ape s**t if they felt she was just using Diana's name to cash in so to speak.

Looking forward to the new album though as it looks like she is going back to The Fame side of things after the very stale Born This Way era.

Comeback single? She hasn't been away! Music journalists do overuse that term.

She did that with Paparazzi. Actually, wasn't she already quoted before that the performance at the VMA's of the song was based on Princess Diana? (The one where she bled and died on stage.)
