Both albums keep swapping places at positions one and two on the Itunes Album Chart. As physically sales are still unknown, Cheryl sets to lead the week with 148,000 album sales with Justin Bieber forecast-ed for a still plausible 139,000. Information from The Official Chart Company.

To be expected, both have huge fanbases, likeable personalities (well...not so much Bieber) and have hype and airplay. Well done to em.

Maybe that is just your ignorance then. He is young, good looking (to young girls) and sings well. He is singing the sort of stuff that is "in" right now. Why does it surprise you? I'm in my 50's and I can see exactly why he is popular, even though I would NEVER play his music on my ipod etc.

Im sorry but what? His music is exactly the same as everyone elses atm, generic dance beats with a few soppy RnB ballads thrown in to get the teenage girls riled up, as an artist he hasnt advanced, sure he's experimenting with a couple of new genres, but they're the same ones everyone else is exploring atm as well, he still sings about the same rubbish he sang about before.

^ Really?! where does it say this?

It wouldn't surprise me that Cheryl ends up no. 1 this week. And I think she'll definitely have a strong first week, but I'm not convinced that either her or Justin will sell that many albums in one week. (although who knows).

I know they've both been no.1 on itunes but I'm quite surprised how neither are particularly high on Amazon, Play etc. (maybe everyone's going to itunes )

OP is wrong! Everywhere else is stating that Cheryl didnt even sell 10K yesterday and Justin is like 3,500 in front (not including the iTunes sales on both of them)

Most Bieber fans & Cheryl fans would have ordered the CD.
Both Cheryl's album versions are in the top 5.

It's going to be close this week but either way #2 isn't something to turn your nose at.

I still think Cheryl will be #1 this week and even if she isn't she'll be #1 next week (unless there are any other big releases coming up? I don't think there are?). Justin Bieber's never been that big in the UK despite what the media make out.

Well the OP was clearly lying (as I thought he was anyway) as Bieber is at #1 in today's midweek with Cheryl at #2* and neither look like they will be getting anywhere near 100,000 this week.

*still think it's likely Chezza will be #1 on Sunday though.

This... I don't think "My World 2.0" has even reached platinum over here.

My World and My Worlds 2.0's sales are combined in the UK, just like The Fame and The Fame Monster's for example, so both Bieber albums added together are X2 Platinum. Although your both right, Bieber Fever here is very mild compared to the rest of the world thankfully.

Apparently neither figures include iTunes sales. Why, I don't know.

^^ Why do they call it the mid-week chart when it's only been one day?

I still think Cheryl will probably out-sell him overall by the end of the week but I don't think she's sell as much as her first two albums did first week.

I think Maroon 5 will probably be no.1 next week.

Just out of curiosity: would that figure include pre-orders that are now being dispatched?

Justin's ahead in the midweeks. I'm quite surprised if I'm honest, considering how much publicity Cheryl's had of late. Does anyone think that perhaps the quality of her last album has put people off buying it? I genuinely don't mean that as a bash. Because there's no denying she does release good singles (and a lot people are buying her single still)

But saying this, even though I've never considered Justin to have a big fanbase here, there seems to be good word of mouth about his album.

If someone told me a few weeks ago that Justin would beat Cheryl for the #1 spot, I wouldn't have believed it! Not saying Justin isn't popular because he clearly is, but I honestly thought (considering his previous sales) Cheryl would have no trouble! Oh well, atleast both of their sales will be good this week regardless of position.
