Amazon haven't had any stock in (at least in the UK), despite claiming availability from the 30th. Definitely sticking with my Clove pre-order, they at least seem honest with dates (ie. don't know for certain), rather than making up dates at random without anything to back them up. |

Aye ... somewhat strange, especially as Amazon is where Nokias UK site links to for purchase.
I still have links to it on Amazon, no date listed at all. Play.com aren't listing a date either. Clove are still claiming mid-late July. |

Pureviewclub.com is reporting that it's a technical glitch that has made the Nokia 808 not appear on amazon's website and that amazon sold all it's stock already and is waiting for deliveries next week

£500 to you, and I did not need a fan site claiming that. |

Well next week arrived very very quick and exactly as Amazon had said.
The white one disappeared so maybe that is due next week. |

Don't even begin to believe their claims of a technical glitch totally removing something from their searches, they effectively pulled the phone from their listings, albeit for a brief period. They didn't have any on their last claimed date (heck, all of their dates seem to have just been magicked out of thin air), not sure if this one is to be believed. So still not sure if I'll try to order from Amazon, and tentatively keep my pre-order with Clove. |

Gone AGAIN off Amazon UK website. And today is the day it was supposed to be "in stock".
Unbelievable incompetence from Nokia that they can't get product in. This has to be losing potential sales for them - the people that want an 808 but not enough to wait for one this long and who are now going for an S3 etc. |

Its still on their pages (got it bookmarked), text is "sign up to be notified when available". Maybe they did have stock and they've all been allocated. Play.com are listing the 11th, Clove still claiming mid/late this month. Expansys not giving a date (but they're bringing in imports for under £500) And as for your last comment - thats a joke, isn't it? The majority of people wanting an 808 will be getting it for the camera. And the S3 isn't even at the same level as the old N8, let alone the 808. So no-one in their right mind wanting an 808 would even begin to consider the S3, its got a joke of a camera in comparison to the 808. |

Aside from the N9, its the first major Nokia in years thats not going to be available via the operators. Maybe they have massively underestimated demand, and are having difficulties keeping up. |

Now, let's get back to blaming either Amazon or Nokia. Cos it sure as hell ain't anyone else's fault. At the very least Amazon should leave the product up there when searched for and say "Sold out - Wow get your order in fast for the next bunch" - taking it down is mad. And Nokia should not be happy with this either - even if they are incapable of fulfilling demand (strange problem for a manufacturer that needs to sell more to survive - maybe they have begun to believe their own demise and have been caught out as clonmult says) |

In stock freely at Amazon US - maybe all the UK one's got sent over there to cover the demand! Funny when the americans weren't getting this phone at all originally that they now get it before anyone else! |

Amazon have it back on the listings stating in stock from 11th July.
And they have UPPED the price to £520. Not purchasing this on principle now until it's back to a realistic level. |

Mine has now come through (sharp intake of breath on cost), but so far the camera is exceeding my expectations. Shame that the weather here sucks, but I'm still intending to try and get some comparison shots between the 808, my aging DSLR (Sony A200, 50mm F1.8 lens), the N8 and my trusty panasonic compact (waterproof, FT1). |
