Downgrading 02 tariff

Tried logging on to the 02 Forum but it is a nightmare and keeps crashing. I am on a 24 month Iphone contract with 02 and wish to downgrade to a lower tariff, i did it on my previous iphone contract after 9 months. Can you still downgrade after 9 months?

The only options it gives me online are for higher tariffs, no lower options. You would be better off ringing them or going into an O2 store.

It is now 12 months if i remember correctly, however some older tariffs you can move up or down at any time. So it depends on the tariff you are on.

Best thing to do is ring them up as it will vary for each customer.

With o2, you can only only

1) Downgrade half way through your contract

2) Downgrade once

3) And only downgrade, to the next lowest tariff to the one you're currently on.

Which is fair enough if you're still in contract and have a subsidised phone. We should be grateful, phone subsidies have ended in some counties.

We can still get a £500 phone with a £35 contract or something, so why should you be allowed to downgrade until the end of your contract.

I'm very grateful to o2.

They let me have 12 month contracts, which allows me to upgrade every 9 months.

I found this in the O2 frequently asked questions:

Can I change my Pay Monthly tariff?
New and upgrading customers on 12, 18 and 24 month contacts may not move to a lower priced tariff within 9 months of connecting to the Network or upgrading. After 9 months, you may only move down one tariff, per month, to the next lower priced tariff to the one you originally connected or upgraded to until the end of your Minimum Period unless you pay us the difference between the monthly subscription on your original tariff and the lower rate tariff we agree that you may move to. If you change tariff, any unused rollover minutes will be lost.
