Cover arrived today. Fitting was very simple, push each corner in turn and wait for the pop noise. Once all 4 corners are locked into the cover it is incredibly secure with no excess space for unwanted movement. Perhaps people complaining about it being a bad fit have an ipad 1 or 2. I can only speak by my experience which is with ipad 3. I can also confirm the button inserts work perfectly.
The front cover's magnetic design means the cover has the additional functionality of acting as a stand for hands free skyping and so on. Quite nifty. Also typing is far nicer with the ipad sat on your lap as the folded up front cover acts to raise the far side of the ipad. Normally I would have to hold the ipad up a little bit with my left hand and type only with my right hand. Now I can type with both hands. Useful.
Overall I am pleased with the Smart Case. The screen no longer collects dust particles when left sitting around for a few hours.
However I do a couple of criticisms. The front cover does not magnetically stick to the back of the ipad very well at all, unlike the Smart Cover. Not really a massive problem, but it does mean there is a tendancy for it to flap about unless it is in the rolled up position. Another criticism is that the front cover sits very flush when covering the ipad. The upshot being it is a bit of a struggle to open the front cover unless you have decent finger nails.
