Hi, I was wondering if anyone who is a University student or works at a University has recently had speed problems uploading video to youtube ?
A relative who is a student at university has to upload some of his video work to Youtube as part of a project.
He can upload files within a few minutes fine outside Uni but at Uni the speed can vary from a few minutes for a file to a couple of hours when tried a few minutes later with a file the same size !
Different browsers and even different computers PC/Mac doesn't make any difference.
He'd do his work away from Uni all the time if he could, but this isn't always possible...
I suspect that it's the University ISP that's the problem. (JANET? )
Any suggestions I can give him please ?

Sounds simply like the connection at his university isn't well managed and it is slow during peak times.

normally the student network is segmented from the main uni network and is limited on what speeds so when all the other students are downloading movies/pr0n/music and killing the segment

best is to probably visit the uni's it dept for some help

I think he's tried it at the weekends as well as early/late in the day.
He said the download speed is great but upload is all over the place...

Surely get there early, and just wait till it uploads? Can do other work and facebook whilst it uploads.
