I suspect that Dan didn't cope well with not being a great dancer.

Has she been "fired" or is it just that she has other commitments or even wanted too much money?

The press like to put anyone not chosen for a series like Strictly as "fired".

I'd have liked to see Katya with someone with potential. Phil had a bit, but only in ballroom.

Katya showed Phil exactly what he had to do to get the tango right, but every time she showed him the power and dominance she required of him, he just giggled. I was impressed by how she tried to teach Phil and Gavin - she was very insistent, but also flexible in her approach, so I think she is a good teacher.

She never really got a chance to show what she could do choreographically because you need a good enough celeb to show your best stuff - like Flavia was able to do with Matt, or Vincent with Rachel.

I agree - the only time I've seen her with a non professional dancer who could really dance was not in Strictly but in her film role with Antonia Banderas which is why I'm angry with the Strictly bosses for wasting the opportunity for using a gifted and charismatic dancer to her fullest potential - 3 years and not a single contender she was given

Really sad to see her go , she was wonderful with Gavin, got much more out of Tuffers than anyone else could and as for Dan no noe could have made him have a decent personality

She sholud have been given a great partner to really see how much she could have brought to the show, my favorite pro dance last year was her and Pasha doing the fastest most enjoyable jive I have seen and normally I am not that fond of the jive

Ditto there. I was actually in the studio audience (at the front) for this so saw this filmed at least twice... I dont normally enjoy Jive but this one I really liked.

I agree with all you say totally.
What a waste of a wonderful Professional dancer.

Similarly, Robin bores me solid too and I have found him rather unpersonable on the several occasions when I have met him.

Anton shouldn't rather say anything about taking anything as a joke dancingwise. I do believe that Anton would have a hard time keeping up in some of Allionas cheography for Harry like the quickstep or the vienesse waltz or the american smooth.

I will miss Katya very much and she wouldn't be much high on my firing list. But i think Alliona is unneccesarily given a hard time, when she has last year proven what she is capable of especially towards the end with harry.

Any one of the female pros would have won with Harry because of his natural ability and popularity!

How about all the messing around with props - that is what annoys me

When pasha joined, does anyone know the reason why he danced with Katya rather than aliona?

All I know is what was said on here that he requested not to have Aliona - I don't know about the reasoning behind it though........I read an interview with Katya when they were publicising their tour and apparently she did request Pasha and I do think he was a better fit for her than Artem was, and Aliona was better off with Artem because they were better suited.

It's possible Katya has been offered some TV work with the beeb to soften the blow eg red button, ITT. Didn't the initial statement mention something about her 'remaining part of the strictly family'?

BBC1 Newsbeat are now saying that Katya was dropped 'last month' so she may have known about it for a while and not said anything.

I was told today from a reliable source it was only until very recent Katya was informed and it was totally unexpected

When Alesha was judge many pro dancers with 20 years dance experience were unhappy to stand there as a captive recipient of Alesha's spiel. As far as I remember Katya was the only dancer who made no attempt whatsoever to hide disapproval from her face, so much so that BBC camera quickly learnt to retreat to a long shot, or to deviate from good TV practice by cutting away from Katya's and celeb's faces to show a closeup of Alesha's face -- desperate to wallpaper over the split in Strictly. Those who attended Shepherds Bush might like to comment -- what they saw, what home viewers did not.

I really cannot remember a single other situation when Katya was less than kindest and most supportive of her celebs however limited. All best wishes to Katya.

I was hoping it had been her choice, but that doesn't sound like it. Not nice.

Yes I was a bit reluctant to say this because like others have said I was hoping it was her choice but even though I don't have a twitter account I was looking at all the pros twitter pages up to and after the announcement and last time Katya tweeted was on on 15 June and on that day she was thanking someone for news about Strictly - Why would you be thanking someone for news about a show you'd just been dropped from and she seems quite a prolific tweeter and since then hasn't tweeted so I can only conclude that the news might have saddened her

Anyway I've said it numerously I think she's been treated very poorly - as soulmate has just said she did best for her celeb partners and this is how they reward her

However, I wish her all the best for the future and I hope something better comes up for her - she's very talented and I'm sure she'll do well in whatever she decides to do next

One of the Sunday tabloids carried a story about a month ago alleging that another pro wasn't too pleased about the situation re Ms Dixon as a judge. Was it true - we will never know
