Scherzinger's Solo Success

I have to echo what many others on this thread and elsewhere have said- Scherzinger has the looks and she definitely has the talent, but there is something missing as a solo singer that you just can't put your finger on...that special something that makes a star, like Rihanna- someone else said on this forum earlier that she divides people, they love her or hate her, but they always talk about her, and it seems all buy her music. Nicole's just a bit bleh, she is an amazing singer but as a solo artist her stage presence is lacking, though I think a huge part of it is the frankly awful (apart from DHYB) material she gets given. Her album flopped despite some successful singles because people will make the effort to by a new Beyonce album, Rihanna album, Usher album, Adele album, but a Nicole Scherzinger album? It just doesn't sit. Her chances of solo success with an album in the US and here would be increased by better material, but as someone else said, she performed her songs on every big show in the US but only one dented the top 40- Right There, and at #39 at that.

Scherzinger's album did well in the uk, it just wasn't released in the us. Rihanna has huge press exposure and that's what Scherzinger needs, her career has been put on the back burner by the media it seems. All she needs is press press and more press, interviews and prime-time slots on TV ,posters of her put up everywhere and Scherzinger's career will rocket.

So a slot as judge on a prime show isn't enough then ? Promoting their singles worked for just about every other artist who performed their single.

If her career "sky rockets" like Coyles was meant to when she Top Model then it's not going to happen.

Unfortuatly for her there is a new Pussycat Dolls so back peddling isn't an option.

It's a catch 22... Rihanna didn't just start getting press from day one for no reason...
She got lots of press because people like to talk about her - and people like to talk about her because she gets alot of press...

You keep saying "Nicole deserves press"
Why does she? So do 10s of artists... She'll be in the press more than anyone until christmas due to X Factor... She'll have a couple of top 3 hits... But she still wont pull up trees any more than she has done...
She just doesn't have that "it" that others have.

People say " She needs better songs"... Songs are only half of the equation. People need to relate to, like, and care for an artist to buy their album... I don't know whether she'll be able to get people caring for her in that way.

she might be on the karaoke show but i can see people saying 'why do we need this comedy breasted yank' in much the same way as the one who was only known as Bouncey's tagalong

the viewing public would prefer any old Tom Dick or Harry british female singer. Minogue got away with it because she at least came from a commonwealth country

Some great pics posted thanks Guys. Why does Cheryl always look like she's riding a horse when she's dancing?

Great to pick up on the Phantom of the Opera video hadn't seen that one. Nicole certainly doesn't have the confidence issues of Cheryl, but there again Nicole is an actual singer and did very well, plus looked stunning.

Once Nicole is on X Factor opinions on her will polarise more, but will guarantee a much higher media profile. If Simon gets to use his arm up the back of her Chair, he's likely to put his marketing boys and girl's into full swing and to prove the point he can make and break an artist.

From Simon, Cheryl has defaulted to Will i am, how long he can be kept interested is anyones guess. But she must be exerting a strong influence still on him. He's hanging around the UK and for some reason unknown to me, he has decided recently to put £500k in to a Princes Trust initiative. Was the Queen getting the chance to stand next to Cheryl the high spot of her career (Cheryl's), or more and better publicity is yet to come?

Here's Derek Hough dancing the Rumba .... with guess who.

Have to grudgingly agree, she's an amazing dancer.

Nicole. She's the all round package great looks, brilliant dancer and a very capable and versatile singer. Let's see if Simon can work his magic over the next few months. Just hope she doesn't feel the need to start dating One Direction, who will be crawling all over the X Factor again.

Rihanna went raunchy and people penned her hits, so that got people talking. Agree about the press part. Scherzinger deserves press because she's talented, the public will see that she has "it" when she gets more press, as soon as the media start papping her, she'll become so much more popular and then people will like her. She does need great songs like DHYB, but she's always been likeable that's why some people wanted her back. Once the media start interviews Scherzinger will change a lot of opinions.
