Adele doesn't even come close to Amy in my eyes. Amy will go down as a icon in years to come and it's a real shame we'll never get a third album . Back to Black is more or less a masterpiece.

I like Adele as a person, Amy was just a skank and had no endearing qualities whatsoever.

Musically they both have the same problem, they were born in the wrong country and are the wrong colour.

I really can't admire people who try to be something they are not.

How narrow-minded.

Amy
With amy, it wasn't just songs about love and heartbreak. It was much more than that. We got a picture and moment of her life in time. She was raw, painfully honest and just amazingly talented.

Adele, she is great. Amazing voice and very talented. But all she has demonstrated is that she can write break up songs. That's all

Amy has so many more qualities. Her voice, her songwriting, she could play musical instruments and she had much more musical ability behind the scenes then what people think she should

Back to black is amazing album. Actually one of my all time favs and perhaps one of the best to ever come from a Female artist. It is an absolute classic. 21 may have sold over 20 million copies, but it's Back to Black that will have a lasting legacy and an album each generation will discover. People will discover 21 because of the world records it broke so people can see what the fuss was. People will discover Back To Black to learn what Amy was really all about and what an incredibly musician she really was and showed in just two albums worth of material and loads of great unreleased songs she left behind as well.

Very narrow-minded, but then this is the faceless internet after all.

How on Earth do you know what sort of person Adele is? Do you know her personally? Because if not, don't make such stupid statements.

Is there some sort of unwritten rule that to sing the music Amy and Adele sing, you have to be American and Black? That strikes me as very backward, very Middle England.

I'm no sure where you're coming from on this. Are you really suggesting that being white and English has been a problem for them? I would say that these are amongst the most significant reasons for their success! Records companies in Britain seem to see white girls who can do their own take on black music styles as being very marketable and offer them contracts and promotion that black UK singers could only dream of.

What do you mean by this?

And if you're going to label Amy as a skank, then you can add to that list Whitney and Billie Holiday - both amazing voices, both died as a result of drug and/or alcohol abuse.

Amy Winehouse is more my style of music. Adele - great but not really 'me'.

Totally.

The thought that white, British women can't have soul is an idiotic and false one.
