Sincerely i wanna know your opinon on exactly who occupy that postition right now. MJ had that post in the late 70's towards the early 90's but then he lost it. Prince could also have a claim to that throne back in the mid 80's.

Usher and Justin Timberlake made claims for that but both seem to have falter. Which leave us with Justin Bieber who currently is making young teenage girls cry their eyes out

Seriously who do you feel ocuppy the throne of being the biggest male artist in the world.

PS; oops forgot about Chris Brown

Obviously if you're talking right now it's not going to be Justin Timberlake... Even though he's my favourite.

As cringey as I find him, Bruno Mars surely?

Did Justin really wanna be one of the biggest males of all time? Mind you, this is the guy who wanted an Oscar nomination for his awful performance in The Social Network. NEWSFLASH JUSTIN, if you wanna achieve as much sales as MJ, how about put more than just two albums across 10 years.

Isn't Elton John one of the top males?

It is Justin Bieber at the moment. Without a doubt there is nobody bigger at the moment.

He sold out his tour in 42 mins this month alone.

Sadly I think it's Justin Bieber....there really aren't many other males on his exact level at the moment....Chris Brown, Usher and Bruno Mars seem to be on similar levels, then you have lesser artists like Trey Songs, Jason Derulo and Jeremih who are popular but don't tend to make much of an impact....

It's a tough time for male acts at the moment as females seem to now be dominating the pop market entirely...the only areas where male solo acts tend to succeed is at the teen group as Justin Bieber and the Jonas Brothers solo careers show...

For pop cultural and media impact Justin Bieber.

For sales Bruno Mars. Saying that Michael Buble can shift some huge amounts of records.

Justin Bieber is a triumph of marketing over talent.

Chris Brown is not on Bruno's level.. He's closer to being on Trey Songz' level... Very similar album sales. And Jason Derulo is a couple levels below the likes of Trey.

The Jonas Brothers have had very little solo success.

Justin Bieber can't really be placed with the older guys... he isn't really selling music to anyone but obsessive teen / tween girls. He could release a track of him farting and it would sell.

Eminem is up there too.

Without all of Chris Brown's anger issues I'm sure this wouldn't even be a debate. He'd be killing it.

Bruce Springsteen still sells quite well but he is probably too old to be considered relevant. So it probably is Justin Bieber.

I think Usher's name is in there though. He isn't as big as he was but he is still A List.

Actually I would say its Eminem. I forgot about him but yeah his last album was massive. So it has to be him.

Usher's the biggest male artist of the past 10 years in the US (and probably worldwide) based on chart success.

There arn't many overly successful male artists at the moment are there?

Maybe Flo Rida? He's had some massive songs lately.

Justin Bieber would be a strong contender, what with his Christmas Album being so successful, and his new album taking off.

EDIT: Sorry, I thought it was the biggest male artist in the world currently.

Depends if we are talking right at this moment, or in the past.
Usher is still massive, but mainly due his past success.

Since the death of John Lennon, Paul McCartney has been the biggest male artist in the world- with Brian Wilson not far behind.

Which is why he is the biggest at the moment. He could sell "air" at the moment and it would sell in its 10000's .

Chris Brown and Trey Songz are both popular in the US, but Chris is much more popular internationally, since he does a lot of europop-styled music, whilst Trey stays more faithful to RnB, which limits his success in many countries.

Eminem's releasing another album next year (or at the very end of this year), so we'll see how popular he still is. When he released his previous album in 2010, there would've been no doubt in anybody's minds that he was the biggest male artist at the time. I reckon when he releases his next album he'll still be massively popular again, as he always is, even with his less commercially popular albums (e.g. Encore in 2004 and Relapse in 2009), he was still right up there.

I'm not so sure. Even without all his personal antics I find him way too aggressive as a performer in general. He always seems to sing and dance with a face of thunder and disgust. Its almost like he isn't happy when he is on stage. Even in his music videos he looks full of hell with someone!

I agree with that. His Confessions era alone will keep him relevent for a LONG time.

But if you do all the maths, it's Usher that has had the most chart success over the past 10 years (2003-2012) in the US (based on album sales, single sales, downloads radio airplay and streaming). That doesn't necessarily mean he's the most popular now. 2004 alone is probably making up a large portion of his "points", but I just thought it was worth mentioning here.

Eminem is the Madonna of males at the moment, Bruno Mars is huge, aside from those 2 I can't think of anyone successful completely worldwide.

True, he's not to everybody's taste...
But around "forever" "Kiss Kiss" and "with you" he was MASSIVE.
I think people forget how big he was. All at 18/19. I was around 16 then, and girls wouldn't shut up about him.
His music/ performance skills were better than 18 year old Bieber is releasing right now.

He had the world at his feet.
He didn't have as many girl fans as Bieber, but he had alot.
And he had the male fans (Bieber doesn't really have) to make up for it.

Maybe as he aged, tattooed up, started swearing, left r n b pop etc he would have lost fans anyway, but without the Rihanna business he'd be in a much better place.
