Saw some lovely Three Spot Gourami today,can i add them to my tank.
I have 4 neon tetras,4 cory catfish and 4 danio's.
I have a 3ft tank

Hi there, from what I understand, these gouramis can be too aggressive to keep with neons. Maybe worth considering smaller gouramis such as honey gouramis or dwarf gouramis to go with neons.

What ghostdreamer said is right. I wouldn't get any gourami except the dwarf gourami for a mixed community . Most of the larger gouramis when they get bigger can be quite aggresive and won't think twice about clobbering or eating anything smaller.

Pearl Gouramis are also quite peaceful.

I would beef up your existing shoals before adding anything else, as the fish you say you have prefer to be in larger groups. Maybe add another two of each?

I have a large blue gourami in a mixed community with neons etc. He doesn't bother any other fish but will not tolerate another gourami in there. Have tried different ones and he chases them all endlessly.

Agreed. You could have say 10 neons. 4 isn't much of a shoal.

Just went over to buy 3 Pearl Gourami but they are sold out.
They have Red Honey Gourami i think they are even more attractive,will they be suitable with my Cory's and Tetras

They should be fine they don't get too big , only get one male and a couple of females though. If you get more than one male they'll squabble a lot,

3 spots and neons are ok. In fact any Gouramis I have had (moonlight, dwarf and opaline/3spot) have ignored the neons completely.

I've had nothing but trouble with Gourami, they are attractive but highly territorial and often become very aggresive as they fight for dominance (to the point of death), I wouldnt recommend them for a community tank - its not worth stress it could cause your other fish.

To give the best chance of success make sure there is plenty of room in your tank and plenty of places for other fish to hide, and if you put in more than 1 gourami make sure they have plenty of space to avoid each other.

I found the Honey Gourami to be particullarly aggresive, if its already established in your tank I wouldnt consider adding more Gourami - the chances are it will defend its territory and attack them.

Dwarfs are less aggressive but Gourami dont mix in my experience

I wouldn't get any more gourami either. You can get lucky sometimes and have one thats peaceful but more often than not they get very territorial. I'd stick with what you have OP. Have you seen Ramirez Dwarf chichlid? If your nitrates are under control and you have some nice quiet spots get some Rams. One of the best looking freshwaters to have imo.

Just a quick update,a week on & Honey+Dwarf & Tetras getting along fine.

I now have a lovely variety of fish and lovely mixture of colors in my tank.

We had two pearl's in with cardinal tetras (very similar to neons), but as others said very territorial. They chased each other (ignoring the neons) until one died (we assume it was down to the aggression). We're now left with a single gourami, 6 cardinals and 6 x-rays, in a very peaceful community tank.
