It will always be there, but I hope most artists go back to their roots like now these days you get artists what are normally known for say RnB / rap doing full on dance club songs simply coz that's what's in right now & what's garuenteed to sell

It wont, it might get different amounts of interest as different styles come and go but dance pop is here to stay in one form or another.

all genres will come into the fore and then move on as tastes change over time. think of it like one of those revolving platters you get in chinese restaurants.

something will be "in" one month and out the next.

The dance-pop craze is already dieing down!!!

There'll come a time in a few years where there's only 4-5 dance-pop songs in the top 40 each week, rather than 30-35 like during last summer. Other types of up-beat/club music seem to be replacing it the chart. Currently for example, Drum n Bass (Rudimental - Feel the Love), hip hop (Professor Green - Rememdy), dubstep (Skillex - Bangarang (sort of)), etc.

Dance-pop domination is NOT here to stay. Soon (in a few years) we'll go back to similar to 2003 time where there's only a few of those sorts of songs in the chart each week

Hopefully. I couple of weeks ago I was looking through a load of songs from 2002/2003 and realised just how much better the charts were back then. Whether it's me getting old I don't know, but I think those few yeasr were pretty great for music.

2002 was a good year for music alright (well for pop music). I was into Britney Spears, Atomic Kitten, Liberty X, Sugababes, Holly Valance, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and I can't remember what else It all depends what your tastes are of course.

I'd rather a 2004-2007 chart take over. Although the decent DnB acts can stay (this does not include Katy B - she is dishwater).

It'll die down when artists start to put some effort into their material and stop following the trend.

Although saying that, even when artists do release something different, radio and TV tend to snub it in anyway.

We need decent R&B and pop back!

Years ago people used to moan about there being lots of R&B in the charts even though a lot of it was good. Decent R&B fully died out after 2008 I think.

There's "decent" and "real" music everywhere. You just have to look for it with an open mind.

You know, I was just thinking. the world really needs another thread moaning about this subject.

And the longer 'R&B' is absent from the charts, so much the better.

Replace "dance pop" with "chart" or "rock" or "rap" and you'll get the full spectrum of whiney threads in music because none of it is "real music" innit ?

I think it's largely because of Crank That tbh. It was a massive hit, but people stopped taking that type of music seriously after that.

There's still a lot of rap and hip hop in the charts, but crunk is all gone (turned into electropop), and there's only 1 or 2 RnB songs in each chart now.
