Fair enough, for you maybe but you can't quite speak for everybody. I think an important point is that not all 3D games require a passive free roam camera, that is something Nintendo have definitely proven, just look at Zelda for instance.

I've also been playing a air bit of Resident Evil Revelations recently and it's controls are actually a stand out point in the game for me, they are literally near perfect.

I currently have an aqua blue 3DS which I will be giving to my sister once I get my blue/back 3DS XL and I have done a system data transfer.

As the 3DS XL does not come with a mains charger I will need to keep mine.

My sister currently has a white DS Lite which has the GBA slot.

Will here DS Lite main charger work with the original aqua blue 3DS?

You should try playing Sname Eater on a 3DS. That should tell you everything that you need to know. :/

I can barely see my old DS games on the 3DS screen. I'm trading up to the new 3DS as the screen size matches my old DSixl.

An oddball in terms of software on 3DS and a home console port of a game designed solely for twin sticks. That should tell you everything you need to know.

They could of easily of substituted the camera for the touch screen but instead decided on the face buttons.

Today 26th July 2012 Play.com have despatched my blue/black 3DS XL.

So hopefully when I get home from work on Sataurday my 3DS XL will have been delivered.

I hope that everyone how has Pre-ordered or is going to buy a 3DS XL this weekend manages to get one.

And good luck everyone with the system data transfer.

My 3DS XL was posted out Thursday from HMV.
Normally HMV is very slow to deliver but maybe they use other services for expensive items other than royal mail.

Me too - charger and a nice red/black XL after trading in my old 3DS (also got a rather shmexy red hard case to keep the new toy in for £9.99 - money off the normal cost when bought at the same time as the XL)

Also they gave me a £10 voucher off anything in store so was very pleased!

Finally the screen does justice to Ocarina of Time & I can now comfortably play it on the bigger screens and I haven't seen any of the upscaling issues some say are very noticeable)

I never got the £10 off voucher. I'm trading in my old 3ds and knew they had a trade in offer where you get £100 for the old one? Well when I was there the manager gave me a bundle with a Lego game, I asked what if I dont want the game, he said well its a free game. It wasn't until I was checking my receipt that I noticed I've been charged £199.99 so when I trade in my 3ds they are charging me for the "free game"

I called the store and I pointed out their offer and the manager says he hadn't heard of their online offer but he can check this and when I go in tomorrow he can refund the cost of the game and the charger. Although according to their site the charger comes free with the trade in!!

Love the new console but I'm dreading going back tomorrow. I just can't believe they are claiming to have no knowledge of their own site deals!!

I am always careful when taking online deals into any High Street shop (been burned in the past) so I printed out the offer before I went in and then stood my ground until the manager agreed to honour the online deal.

Cannot comment on the £10 voucher I was given as it clearly was not part of the deal (and to be honest I wasn't going to complain at being given it!)

I'm not overly fussed about the voucher. Tomorrow when I go back I'll take a print out. The manager said on the phone I can still transfer my data to the new console and that 'if they are wrong about the trade in, they will refund the game and charger" well they won't be refunding the charger as I get that free!

I got home from work today and my blue/black 3DS XL that an had Pre-ordered from Play.com had turned up which made really happy about that.

I have not tried the 3DS XL out yet as I have got it on charge but late after I have watched the F1 practice 1 and 2.

And as I have already said earlier in this thread I will be going to town on Tuesday and going in to Game so that I can see what 3DS XL carry cases there are so that I can buy one.

So for those that have been to Game since they have started selling the 3DS XL what 3DS XL carry cases did you see and would recommend that I buy?

Also what other 3DS XL accessories did you see and would recommend that I buy?

I bought the following case from Game (just took the photos with my phone so not great quality). Its a hard case that has removable foam insert so that a DS Lite or a DS XL fits inside it - removing the foam insert allows the 3DS XL to fit perfectly.

It cost me £9.99 as I bought it at the same time as the console so I got a discount.

http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...S%20Case/1.jpg

http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...S%20Case/2.jpg

http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...S%20Case/3.jpg

I have also ordered a big DSi XL stylus to fit in the vacant space in the case.

They did have other cases (Mario themed ones and soft cases) but as the console travels to work with me it can get a fair battering so the hard case is the best for me.

Just a small point the cartridge slots you can see are cut for the standard DS cartridges so squeezing the 3DS ones in can be a bit tight but it isn't really a problem.

Here it is on Amazon

Hope that helps you a little

Thank you Omipalone for your very kind help and for taking time to reply.

And thank you for the photos they are a great help.

The hard case that you brought looks very good even thought it is not a 3DS or 3DS XL specific case.

I see what you mean about the 3DS game cartridges not fitting properly. From looking at the photos that you have very kindly provided it looks like you can fit most of the game cartarige in the slot apart from the bit that sticks out on the right hand side of the game cartarige.

When you close the hard case do the 3DS game cartariges slip out of the slots and end up loose in the hard case so that when you open it the 3DS game cartariges are all over the place?

I guess that DS game cartariges stay in the slots as they are designed for them.

Also by removing the foam won't the 3DS XL get scratched more easily in side the hard case?

And did Game sell the blue version of the hard case that you brought?

And were have you ordered the DSi XL styluse from?

And gdjman68wasdigi I currently have a 3DS mains charger that came with my old aqua blue 3DS but I will have to buy a new mains charger because my sister is having my aqua bulk 3DS so she needs the mains charger as I found out that her DS Lite charger will not work with the 3DS.

Just wondering when you traded in did you have all original packaging like the box etc? Only with the dsi you only needed the console and charger

More than welcome as I, like you, could not track down a 3DS XL specific case so took the plunge with this one.

You would think they would but the surround holding them has a rubbery feel and easily holds them in place. Also that fabric covering that separates the cartridge area from the console storage area holds them in place. I have just given the case a good shake and none were dislodged.

Yes they do very nicely.
Quote:

Not for me as the inside isn't a hard plastic mould its a sort of hard rubbery stuff that also provides grip to holding the cartridge, stylus' and console in place.

As I like to keep things in perfect condition I am also buying a clear plastic case that will cover the outside of the XL so it will never come in contact with the outside world anyway (I did the same with my 3DS which is why Game snapped it up as it looked as if it hadn't been touched!!)
Quote:

Can't say I noticed as I obviously only paid attention to the colour I wanted. However, have a look on that Amazon link I posted to see if they have a blue version. *edit - Just looked for you and there is a blue version on the Amazon site*

You can get them from eBay or Amazon (just search for DSi XL stylus)

Yes I had all the original packaging, manuals, AR cards. charger, memory card, console etc. It was also in prime condition as I cover the screens immediately and then put a clear plastic case on the outside of the console to ensure that it stays good for when I want to upgrade or change consoles.

If you want a new 3DS XL find a 24 hour Asda.
I got 1 in store today for my son paid £169.

Thank you omipalone for your very kind continued help.

Please can you tell me what screen protectors that you are using for your 3DS XL.

And in your opinion is it really that important to put a screen protector on the top screen?

I can understand putting a screen protector on the bottom screen as you move the styluse over it so it could get scratched but putting on the top screen I am not so sure about or if it is really needed.

And what clear plastic case are you using for your 3DS XL?

And with the clear plastic case fitted to your 3DS XL will it still fit in the hard case that you brought?

I really want to protect my 3DS XL so that it says looking brand new and with now scratches or marks on it.

Asda do a 3DS case (it is black soft case and looks like a camera case) for £8 and my son's 3DS XL fits in perfectly.

These from Amazon (although I have had to order another set as a damn hair has managed to get stuck under the bottom screen one & its annoying the hell out of me!

Don't know that you can buy single ones so I just went for what I could find

eBay Link - haven't yet received this

Yes that should not be a problem and if it is I will re-think but would rather give the chance of extra protection a go for a fiver.

My view exactly as I cannot understand spending money on something and then not spending a bit extra trying to keep it in good nick for as long as possible (am exactly the same with any other tech I buy)

Thanks omipalone you have been a big help.

I need a bit of clarification on the Savvies screen protector Crystal-Clear for Nintendo 3DS XL SPM7800 that was on Amazon.

In the product description it says Cut to fit the specific display perfectly.

Does this mean that they come in the pack the right size to fit the 3DS XL screens or do you have to cut them your self so that you can make them the right size to fit the 3DS XL screens?

Also I like the clear plastic case that is on eBay that you linked to. I will deffenatly be ordering on of those over the weekend.

Will you be putting a screen protector on both screens or just the bottom one?

And have you put screen protectors on both screens on the previous DS models that you have owned.

Hope that you enjoy your 3DS XL omipalone and that all the things that you have ordered for it turn up.
