Burn Notice Season 6 US Pace
Well, we are two episodes in and I don't see a thread on it so here we are.
Jessie has been added as a main character this season so he is now on the opening intro as "a down and out spy you met along the way". Agent Pearce is still there, Agent Jason Bly makes an appearance, Fi is in federal prison and John C McGinley has been added to the cast as Michael's CIA training officer now in Operations. I have enjoyed the first two episodes and look forward to seeing the season unfold. |

Yup, I'm watching.
Was Agent Bly the guy from a few seasons ago, who was with Michael in a bank when it got robbed? |

<bump>
So, this returned a couple of weeks ago, with three eps so far (first week back was a double). It's off next week, and then back on the week after. Good so far. I do wonder though how long they are going to stretch out the fugitive thing. It's good that they're doing something different, but how long can it last before we're back to normal? Also, this is the second spy drama from the USA Network that's had an iffy shooting in which the characters have all shown high levels of stupidity. Surely GSR tests would show that Tyler did not fire the gun in his hand, therefore throwing doubt on the story that Card was innocent and shot him in self-defence? Also, if Card was so innocent, why did he have a silencer on his gun? Why didn't Michael mention this to the woman from The Wire? He told part of the story, he should have told her what happened in the room too. |

Am I the only one who's starting to get a bit sick of the continually recurring "Spy hunts down the baddie who burned him, only to discover that yet another baddie was responsible" storylines in Burn Notice?
Seriously, this is, what, at least the 4th time Michael has hunted down one baddie, only to find that there was yet another person pulling the strings? Could they not come up with a slightly less derivative plot once in a while? Frankly, I'd rather they ditched that aspect of the show entirely (or, perhaps, have it as an ongoing thing from one season to the next) and just concentrated on the idea of a "big league spy" using his talents in civilian life. |

So, without giving too much away, another series of Burn Notice ends with Michael getting drafted into some organisation to do something in order to save all his buddies?
Come on! Do they only have these two stories (this and the "Michael discovers yet another baddie" one) which they keep recycling? |

it's more like in the simpsons where whatever wacky adventures they get up to, everything goes back to normal.

I think they really stepped over the line, so to speak, in this season TBH.
Again, without wishing to give too much away for anybody who hasn't seen it, the way the whole plot with Tom Card resolved should really have put Michael in an untenable position. It would have been better if they'd created a more ambiguous situation where even though Michael was morally responsible for the outcome, it wasn't so cut & dried.

For next season I hope they will ditch the repetitive puppet on a string routine that's been going on since season 1. It would be better if Michael stays burned and he and his crew act as a kind of Internal Affairs to smoke out rogue agents. The agencies seem riddled with them. And be The Equalizer for the odd civilian of course.

Season 6 and in particularly the finale hit a similar sort of reset button that shows like 24 did at the same stage so it will be interesting to see where Season 7 finds us. We know Fiona is not going to happy with Michael's choices but where does that leave the usual episodic business?
