Sorry if this has been discussed I did a search and couldn't find anything...

I never really got into Friends - I just couldn't see what was so funny about it. I'm sure that fans will enjoy it though - the more stuff released on Blu-ray the better.

The jump in quality for the first few seasons was quite astounding. It really was like watching a whole new show.

21 disk set though .. gonna be expensive. I'd say it'll be like for like price wise, so at least £250 quid.

Yes it's such a great thing isn't it that they decided to film in Super 35, not knowing that one day the higher resolution of film and the wider aspect ratio of Super 35 could be fully utilised.

The only problem I have is that a lot of graphics or fonts are not right. For example they use the wrong font on the opening titles of season 1. You may think this a bit pedantic but I personally think that they should have kept them as close to the original versions for historical purposes. This is like changing history almost.

HMV have it available for pre-order at £110.
It should be mentioned that it has been confirmed that the US release won't be getting the extended versions of each episode so I imagine we won't either.

Can I really condone buying these episodes for the third time?!

I think I'll wait until next xmas for this when it's reduced, or if there are no extended episodes, just wait until they are released.

I'm wondering what the layout of the discs will be though. My bet is that each disc will be a double sided affair with around 6 episodes per side - they're 50gb discs apparently so I suspect they'll be able to fit that many on.

So it'll work out at 2 discs per season. Obviously the the shorter final season, that'll leave the odd couple of discs for extras.

I can't see them making BD double sided. It is still seen as a bit luxury and I would be shocked if they did the same as with DVD.

HA! I'm not spending over £100 on the same footage all over again. Not happening.

They'll have to. They wouldn't be able to fit 22 episodes onto a single sided disc - not even 50gb.

2 x BD50 single-sided discs per season giving a bitrate around 16-20Mbps. Looks like lossy audio rather than DTS-HD at the moment

Which would make around 12 episodes per side. Seems a lot, but I guess it could fit.

Hopefully, the producers will replace David Schwimmers character with that of the marginally less infuriating Jar Jar Binks from Star Wars 1 before the release.

not having the extended eps is kinda a downer for me with this set

Why would you want to upgrade again and have all the extra extended and quite good stuff aswell removed

you just know they will release another bluray set in 2014 for the 20year mark this will then have the extended episodes currently on the DVDs now

It took them this long to get the show out in HD.

Imagine how long it would take them to go back yet again and edit the extended episodes for HD from the original Super 35 masters.

Great overall series at the time but it's been repeated so many times now, won't be bothering getting a box set.

I've had all the episodes on DVD for years - owned the box sets but ultimately ended up backing them all up and selling the originals.

Still re-watched it from S1E1 in HD though

I know but for us fans who watch the extended set now id imagine it will be a bummer to go back to the normal eps some eps increased by a good 5 mins in those extended seasons which was very good usually with extended stuff it would be rubbish that only lasted like a min

Chandler and Rachel are joint favourites (Phoebe my least, sometimes have to mute when she's on). Is the new set worth getting though if you already have the original box set, just seems a bit pointless.
