Her albums always failed to amaze me, but Music box, now what a perfect Pop album. Full of incredible ballads and is Mariah at her absolute best. It also shows her at her most vulnerable as that album is pretty much a love letter to Tommy Motolla, her first husband at the time.

I really honestly love them all!
But my favourite would have to be 'Emotions' I think, they are all so good!

Her debut...I love EVERY track on there - all had potential to big hits. I LOVE "Prisoner".

I cant believe Music box is winning!

I voted for Music Box as I think it's a perfect album and her voice was at it's best then, imo. But E=MC2 is a close second for me. Brilliant album, very underrated.

i loved that song. why she never released `i don't wanna cry` here is a mystery. it would have faired at least a bit better than `there`s got to be a way`. other tracks like `you need me`, `all in your mind` and `vanishing` were great as well. a very strong début and she should have done so much better in the uk initially. i remember rooting for her to take off over here and i was so pleased when `i`ll be there` became a big hit for her finally. her first three albums and `the emancipation of mimi` are my favourites.

E=Mc2 is a fantastic album IMO. No fillers at all.
Side Effects is probably one of the best songs she's ever written. Details the breakdown of her marriage to TM, but sung over a banging club beat rather than a ballad.
Outstanding album in every way.

I do perfer her early material. I do love a big Mariah ballad, and it's a shame she became so focused on the whole urban side of things. Having said that, i'm gonna go for E=MC2. It was the perfect mix and has some fantastic tracks like Side Effects and Migrate - both of which should have been singles!

Then it would be Music Box followed by Butterfly. 'Butterfly' is one of her very best songs imo.

I find most of her other albums quite filler-heavy to be honest. Memoirs was terribly overdone and contains far to many sparce and quite frankly boring songs

It's funny that Music Box is winning as that is probably one of the least fan-favourites along with Charmbracelet, Glitter and E=MC2.
My favourite is the Emancipation of Mimi. It was the first innovative thing she'd done since Butterfly, basically creating this 1970s underproduced R&B/Soul work of art. This isn't to say I dislike her other albums, I love them all. Even Glitter.

I only bought her first 5 albums - on cassette ,back in the day (plus the live one).
Her debut is one of my fav albums of all time. I still listen to it regularly. Adore every track. Prisoner has always been my favourite - nice to see it getting a mention by other posters on this thread already. I always wish it had been a single too.

Years later, I re-bought 'Mariah Carey', Emotions, and Daydream on cd.

I didn't like her Merry Christmas album (and I love Christmas albums - just not hers),and only liked a couple of songs from Music Box - so didn't buy either of those again,on cd format.

For me, her earliest stuff is the best.
Totally lost track of her after Daydream.
I bought her Greatest Hits (the one with the butterfly) to see what I thought of her up to date material,but it wasn't for me,and gave it to a charity shop.

It has to be Butterfly perfect mix of upbeat and ballads and where she did hip-hop and did it well plus i love her voice on it its the ultimate Mariah album then as follows:
