Getting games for ipad

My daughter has given me her first generation ipad. I'm liking it but finding it quite puzzling so far.

I want to download Spider Solitaire but the site says I have to belong to Dropbox to have it. Is this ok please? If I download it where will it go? I'm used to a laptop.

You can only download software from the appstore.

Its called a close system, where you cant download random software from where ever you like.

If its not in the appstore you cant install it. Sorry.

If you have a 3G or WiFi version of the iPad then you can download directly on that. saves faffing about with iTunes.

Just tap the App Store icon and do a search on Spider Solitare. Several versions came up on my iPad, some free some for about a quid. You will need to create an account on the App Store to download stuff.

But if you do that it will just appear as an icon on the iPad.

Thanks, chris. Have connected to my home wifi and found the page and selected the first Spider. But there's no button which says anything like "download"?

Are you browsing the internet, or are you in the 'App Store' on the iPad?

You need to be in the App Store, not surfing the internet on Safari.

No, I'm in the App Store. The only buttons I can see are Developer Web Site and App Support.

In the top left corner, under the image of the app you should see a button which says 'free'....you should press this button.
