Now a lot of the time event comics just don't work but this is the place to talk about the events that were actually good. I'd say blackest night is a great example of an event were the stories is told in the core series and the tie-ins are just that tie-ins. Side stroies that show how the event is affecting a particular character not a tie-in that reveals important plot details outside of the main narrative yet the these plot points are vital to the main plot.

I hate plots where there arer side plots so you have to buy titles you wouldn't normally in order to know what is going on. Such as Flash Point.

I did enjoy Infinite Crisis though.

I detest 'events'- they are usually shameless cash making schemes and are generally cack. I did love the first 'Secret Wars' though!

I often hated the big summer "event" crossovers within Marvel and DC. It's why I gave up on them in the end.

It was bad enough having to buy Bat/X-Men titles I wouldn't normally buy, but when you then had to also read other DC/Marvel titles too, I said enough is enough.

Saying that, though, there were some crossovers I enjoyed, such as Age of Apocalypse, Contagion / Legacy / No Man's Land and a couple of others.

I never liked the "Crisis" events. I always preferred to think of Batman as separate from the rest of the DCU, and hated it when the rest of the universe intruded.

Crisis on Infinite Earths remains the best. Even though the ending didn't really make sense and hardly any of the writers seemed to know how to deal it with afterwards. The death of The Flash and Supergirl seemed liked truly tragic events at the time.
