Text Messages
I'm currently having problems with a large number of my text messages being sent to a particular number not being recieved. I have a BTCellnet contract phone, and the recipient has a BTCellnet pre-pay phone. After phoning BT Customer Network Services (or whatever they call themselves) I was told it was more likely to be a problem with the recipients number and not with my phone, as the messages were definately being sent. The recipient then called them, and they said the problem was likely due to congestion on the network. However, this person had been receiving messages from other people with no problems, it only seems to be with my number, and possibly another friend with a BTC contract that there seems to be this awful delay (approx. 30 hours, sometimes the msgs never arrive). Do any of you know if this is a common problem, or is it more likely to be a fault somewhere that the Cellnet people just aren't telling us about? This has only started occuring over the last few days (since Saturday/Sunday) and is continuing now. Thanks in advance.

Text messaging has become over used in the past 2-3 months, so many people are having problems....
Pretty much every network has been effected seems text messaging is far a better communication method. Even the freebie text based SMS services are dead... http://www.txtuk.net/sendtxtmsg.php this one works however but its internet based. http://www.sms.ac |

I've also sent a lot of messages to a bt cellnet phone from my orange which have never arrived. I havn't bothered phoning anyone - whats the point of being on hold for half an hour to find out it was the other networks fault.

My daughter uses a Genie SIM (Cellnet) and could only receive texts from my wifes Vodafone SIM, not my Orange or her Genie fone either!!!. I rang them and Genie said it needed a new SIM, lo and behold 1 hour later my daughter recieved my texts from 8 days ago and it then received all the lost/missing/never recieved messages... Why did they lie? and what did they do to get it working again?

Wasn't that a fault across the whole UK Vodafone network, meaning that no customers could make calls or send messages. It was on the radio this morning. Pretty big problem really

Originally posted by richardr Hmm, both me and the recipient of my messages are on Genie, but they were no help and just told us to phone BT Cellnet, who told us it was just congestion. The problem is now getting worse, with the delay increasing now to 48 hours. I think maybe Genie have become a victim of their own success, as they offer the most number of free txts that I know of, for a fairly reasonable price.
