Should Rooney's International Future Be In Question?

Yet another tournament gone by and yet another massively dissapointing one from England's most talented and important player.
Just how many more chances should he have, or is it time to look for someone else who might not be quite as talented but is able to get close to their best form at tournaments?
It seems that for some [Rooney, Gerrard, Lamps] that getting into team is a cert no matter how below par they play tournament after tournament, and that cannot be right!

Imo, it's time to move on from Gerrard, Lamps, Terry and the woeful Milner, with even Cole's posistion being in doubt for the next World Cup.
Personally, i'd give Rooney one more go at a tournament, then if he doesn't cut it then he should be dropped for good.

No lets call time on Rooney at international level, he's obviously not good enough, as he can't tranlate his club form to internationals. It will of course mean United will benefit, but I'm more than happy with that.

I'd go with Peter Crouch and Andy Carroll up front with Grant Holt on the bench.

There is noone to replace him with.

Only player I can see coming through anywhere at the moment is Will Keane and he has a terrible injury now.

Managers need to get past the idea that Rooney has to play for us. He hasn't done anything for England to justify that, IMO. Carroll and Welbeck done well against Sweden. Roy should have stuck with them, and not just because Rooney was lacking fitness.

Yeah why not? Give him a year off, and see if he indicates a burning desire to perform for England again.

In the meantime, field the same front line that put three past Sweden.

I've just remembered Joey... I know who should lead the line for England...

Morrison and Carroll, Holt still on the bench.

Yes, his international future is non-existent

From this day forward, he can never leave England.

He'll be limited to domestic activities.

Andy Carroll needs a good up-fronter by his side. And that, unfortunately- is not Rooney. Welbeck saved us against Sweden but I'm not sure he's good enough permanently.

I have to agree and that's why I suggest Ravel Morrison.... he'd be perfect.

In fact I'd go as far as to say anyone playing at Man Utd shouldn't be considered for England as they are simply not good enough.

Hey Tribec what about this forward line

Heskey, Carroll and Shola Ameobi on the bench.

This might be a joke , but it wont be any worse than what we got in this tournament.

Don't be silly Hesky's a has been, tried and tested. Carroll is the future with Holt as the experienced guy.

Rooney wasn't fully fit for this tournament and he is playing in a team which cannot even retain possession and supply him service. Do you think Crouch would have scored or Carol scored if he had been on the whole match against the Italians last night? Don't think so.

He's had far too many opportunities at Euro 2004, WC 2006 2010 and Euro 2012 and has blown it at all of them by contributing very little. I can see him probably given another chance at WC 2014 but that should be it.

Have to disagree there.

If Carroll's the future then i'm off. Is that seriously all we've got?

People won't or don't rate Welbeck, be it because he's a United player I don't know, but it wouldn't shock me. So discounting any one from that club, who else?? Defoe? He's hardly set the international scene on fire, Crouch isn't considered these days. Carroll and Holt are left.

No Tribec is right, we have to look to the future.

There is little point wasting time on has beens and people that quite clearly don't have the class to play for England.

The only other name I can throw in is Jordan Rhodes and he is totally untested.

There is noone else.
