Central thread for the CBBC channel considering there isn't one, discussion for ratings and more.

To start, according to Twitter, the spin-off to Tracy Beaker Returns (The Dumping Ground) will start filming in two weeks time and will transmit in January.

Bump...

I think the channel needs its own discussion thread somewhere on this forum.

Why do you watch the kids channel? Don't you know you over age

To be fair the kid is 15, and probably doesn't realise that probably none of the adults on DS Broadcasting want to talk CBBC.

Good idea Hassaan.

Do you think CBBC has changed for the better over the years you've watched it or not?

Perhaps the lack of actual interest implies that others don't necessarily share your view.

Do they ever show old (90s) shows on there such as The Demon Headmaster, or The Queens Nose!

Nope they've not shown those shows since they rebranded in 2007.

I hope they repeat The Queens Nose because I never got to see the whole series.

I'm a bit too old for it now, but i enjoyed "The Sparticle Mystery" - think it should have been shown on BBC1 on a Sunday evening to be honest.

I watched it a lot when I was younger, the quality has definatly decreased in terms of programming though. I wish they hadn't cancelled the brilliant Sorry I've Got No Head, that was too good for the channel to be honest though.

Actually did show The Queens Nose in 2008 but it hasn't been on the schedule since.

The best CBBC show I remember was Jeopardy. Now that was spooky.

I used to love the show "See How They Run"... It repeated atleast once, but would love to have seen it again.

I recently managed to get the book with the characters photo on the front.

I think there are a few shows that could appeal to older audiences, such as The Sarah Jane Adventures and Tracy Beaker Returns. Especially the dramas.

I'm also quite interested in the kind of ratings it gets.

I was amused when they showed one of the early series of Scooby Doo a couple of years ago, and they plonked a "New" DOG on it. Pardon the pun

In response to those ratings above, it is the summer holidays so I would expect them to get low ratings. Around the time when TBR was being aired, it used to get 600K - 800K every week, and I think the highest ratings CBBC has ever got is 993K for The Sarah Jane Adventures, compared 1.158million for CBeebies for one of their Christmas pantos. Other shows on CBeebies seem to occasionally rate around 700K at the highest.

Is it probably because there is a wider audience for Cbeebies than CBBC, and a lot of CBBC's target audience would probably prefer a different channel or wouldn't warm to a lot of the shows that are broadcast.

This will have something to do with it. The age demographic of Cbeebies includes a lot of young children who will not be at school yet.

We didn't have CBBC in my day. We had power cut's and Ted Heath.
