Looking at the BARB ratings for last week:

1 TRACY BEAKER RETURNS (MON 1719) - 291,000
2 HORRIBLE HISTORIES (MON 1009) - 284,000
3 TRACY BEAKER RETURNS (FRI 1326) - 273,000
4 TRACY BEAKER RETURNS (FRI 1257) - 266,000
5 SCOOBY-DOO AND THE LEGEND OF THE VAMPIRE (SUN 0804) - 243,000
6 TRACY BEAKER RETURNS (SUN 0932) - 231,000
7 TRACY BEAKER RETURNS (FRI 1228) - 228,000
8 4 O'CLOCK CLUB (MON 1157) - 228,000
9 SHAUN THE SHEEP (TUE 0927) - 223,000
10 SCOOP (TUE 0904) - 223,000

Interesting to see that TBR is still the most popular show on CBBC, they've already commissioned a spin-off for it.

The kept on making series after series of The Queens Nose, even after I thought it was long finished. I bumped into once and the only thing the same was the name!! I believe there was even a feature length episode / movie made.

For example, series 7 (!) was repeated in 2007 !! There must have been a big gap between the original and the later series.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007r7sd

There was another 100 minute version called "The Magic Shop"

Children's drama series about a magical coin which grants wishes. Jake is sent to live with his Grandad Chief, his Aunt Carla and his cousin Gemma. Chief runs a store that sells everything, where Jake discovers the Queen’s Nose.

Should have died years ago

What's with CBBC's three-part dramas?

They've had Postcode (which should have had a full series), Runaway etc.

Bump...

Anyone heard of this new drama called 'Wizards vs Aliens'? Apparently it's going to be the replacement of SJA.

Did anyone enjoy WolfBlood- the new CBBC drama ?

One of the better CBBC drama ive seen for a while.

Sad to think that these great "childrens" dramas are now "hidden away" on the CBBC Channel. Were as not long ago they were "family viewing" on BBC1 at 5.00pm.

I think it'll be CBBC's big hitter this autumn, even year. The highest rating this year on CBBC is 876,000 viewers, which an episode of Tracy Beaker Returns managed back in January. I have a feeling it'll manage to beat it (considering many adults are watching aswell).

Programming seems to be improving, with the likes of Wizards vs Aliens and Wolfblood, and ratings are bound to increase for its series finale (WvA), as with the upcoming "The Dumping Ground".

I'm a bit too old for it now, but i enjoyed "The Sparticle Mystery" - think it should have been shown on BBC1 on a Sunday evening to be honest.
A second season of this has been filmed and will be shown early next year

Funnily enough I was at my brothers house, and his daughter (my niece) my brother and I were all watching Cbeebies (shes 1.) Me and my brother have grown up watching CBBC on BBC1 when we have come home from school. (Well I say that, but actually I was more of a CITV boy!)

At about 3:45 I then said: "shall we see whats on BBC1 now," but after flicking it onto BBC1 to see what was on, we went back to watching Cbeebies. I had almost forgot about CBBC, and we only put it on as an after thought.

So I would say it maybe isn't just children who watch the specialist childrens channels, but also parents.

Talking about when I used to grow up watching it there were a few programmes on CBBC I used to watch. Do they ever repeat things like the Demon Headmaster, or Get Your Own Back!

If this was 2008/2009, yes. At the moment, no.

I've never even heard of them!

Any of you adults still watch Blue Peter?

I used to love the show "See How They Run"... It repeated atleast once, but would love to have seen it again.

I recently managed to get the book with the characters photo on the front.

I managed to remember that programme not long ago, couldnt find any clips for it at the time.
i must of been quite young and watched that with my mum, im sure i was more spoked out, and my mum really enjoyed, i would really like to see it again. It came across as quite a grown up programme iirc

And the block ends on 21st December. I think this will help CBBC in the ratings however, especially in terms of Blue Peter etc.

The top 10 for w/e 18 Nov:

1 THE STORY OF TRACY BEAKER (THU 1700) 439
2 WIZARDS VS ALIENS (MON 1716) 433
3 WIZARDS VS ALIENS (TUE 1717) 417
4 SCOOBY-DOO! MYSTERY INCORPORATED (FRI 1602) 391
5 SCOOBY-DOO! MYSTERY INCORPORATED (THU 1601) 382
6 SCOOBY-DOO! MYSTERY INCORPORATED (WED 1603) 361
7 SCOOBY-DOO! MYSTERY INCORPORATED (TUE 1602) 348
8 SCOOBY-DOO! MYSTERY INCORPORATED (MON 1604) 339
9 YOUNG DRACULA (MON 1748) 332
10 LEAGUE OF SUPER EVIL (TUE 1548) 323

I honestly don't see how an old repeat of Tracy Beaker would beat a new original drama which is meant to be the ratings hit for the autumn. Young Dracula has dropped off quite a bit from last years 'revival' when it was constantly at the top for the week and was getting 400-500k.

Shame they couldn't show Blue Peter simultaneously on BBC1 and CBBC on the Friday on this one occasion. Surely they'd make this final day memorable?

I'm amazed at why CBBC & Cbeebies ratings are so low compared to 15-20 years ago. The Quality of Children's TV is relatively the same, if not a bit better than it was a decade ago. Sadie J is a personal favorite of mine as is The 4 0 Clock Club and such others.

Ratimgs where much higher when CBBC was only on BBC1 and all new CBBC shows could only be found on BBC1. And the shows they produced (eg, Grange Hill, Byker Grove, Blue Peter etc) were watchable not just by the target audience but by late teens and adults.

Now the viewing figures above are for a niche channel targeted at 6-13 year olds only in a section of the EPG many adults view .

As mentioned, that was when they were on BBC One before the likes of The Weakest Link/Pointless on a weekday.

Some CBBC overnights from yesterday:

16:00 - Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated: 314k (3.1%)
16:30 - Pet School: 290k (2.5%)
17:00 - 12 Again: 191k (1.3%)
17:30 - The Revolting World of Stanley Brown: 245k (1.5%)
18:00 - Friday Download: 173k (0.9%)

So Scooby Doo beats all. I think Mondays and Tuesdays are going to be the best days for them with the likes of Wolfblood, Young Dracula and Wizards vs Aliens (ironically, all the sci-fi, fantasy shows, surprising that kids prefer these over entertainment shows such as Friday Download which is far more appealing).

All consolidated figures for Wizards vs Aliens are on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizards...ens#Series_One

That was before the days of BBC Three which caters for the higher end of teens.

You cant compare Grange Hill and Byker Grove with some of the adult stuff BBC3 churns out.

Why do tv channels presume that all youth tv should be full of explicit nudity, crudity and vulgarity?

CBeebies usually trounces it, with ratings of over 400-500k every day.

I think it's all based on the quality of programming. And the fact some of the programming is still based on BBC One. Maybe, we'll see a slight change after 21st December, when all kids programming is removed from BBC One, Blue Peter in particular.

I'm surprised Friday Download is rating so badly. It's well produced, they have decent producers, it's probably the most talked about on Twitter (it was trending worldwide for the first episode of the new series (23rd November) yet it ended up with only 226k viewers officially).

For the past two years, Tracy Beaker Returns turned out to be their biggest hit. However, programming must be considered pretty bad if a new original RTD-penned sci-fi drama is being beaten by a 8-year-old repeat of a Tracy Beaker episode (the older series).

I'm getting the feeling they don't really care.
