I noticed that they have stopped the CBBC channel promotion on BBC2 all together and only have limited promotion on BBC1.
Maybe because those promotions were broadcast at later times, aimed at the parents who by now should be more than aware of those channels with their now unique BBC output (seeing as their children would have been missing that programming now that it's not on BBC one)

The Dumping Ground had Carmen Munroe (Play School, Desmond's and lots more) playing Gina's Mum Hattie today. Brilliant performances all round.

Shame they stuck it at 10:10am - won't really get maximum viewers at that time.

It's on in the afternoon's too.

I think it's a decent time of the year to put it on, School holidays for a lot of people.

And, i'm sure, it will be repeated over the summer.

Also, according to the Facebook page, it's at the top of the list of CBBC iplayer views. Schedules are not that important anymore to today's tech savvy youngsters.

Half term is only a week long (though often falls in different weeks in different areas), and as The Sparticle Mystery is a 13 part series no one in its target audience will be able to watch the whole series on its first showing - and both morning and afternoon showings are during school hours. Of course the series will be repeated ad infinitum as with all CBBC programmes.

I still don't get the rationale for CBBC to be showing its normal programming during school hours - just who is the target audience meant to be? I'd rather they went back to showing schools programmes at this time.

During school hours, they usually show a few-year-old programmes. As you mentioned, they should probably show programming that adults stuck at home would remember/like watching, as there is usually a larger adult daytime audience.

They are wheeling out their biggest hit The Dumping Ground today, and it looks like an interesting episode and considering it's half term, will be interesting to see how it rates.

The film Madagascar which CBBC showed on 17th Feb scored an official figure of 594k, pushing in front of The Dumping Ground which had been #1 every week since it's premiere, and a nice rounded share of 9.00% - highest ever share on CBBC I believe.

For Comic Relief does Glee Club last Thursday and Friday, they simulcast it on BBC One - I'm quite surprised they did this as I thought BBC One were through with CBBC shows.

Anyone here still watch CBBC shows? I still enjoy The Dumping Ground and am aware of people who have recently watched shows like Wolfblood and Junior Bake Off. Their broadcasting hours were extended to 9pm this year.

I am far too old now to watch, but brings back memories of watching programmes with my children. They loved The Dumping Ground.

It's a shame Children today choose not to watch now it's on its own channel.

I for one am very happy that CBBC is rating poorly.
only kids who have parents niave enough to think freeview is enough for kids should watch CBBC.

Any kid who has sky wont dare ventutr down the first page of the EPG because they know the best shows in the world can only be found on pay channels such as cartoon network.

It's interesting to see that one of CBBC's most watched shows is scooby doo. However it must be noted that Boomerang has always showed the most current and up to date version of scooby doo for many years.

Any mum also knows that Cbeebies programming is patranisting and makes pre-school kids brain dead. I find half the people on cbeebies to be creapy and annoying. No kid will ever be cool if they act like anybody on the cbeebies channel.

However any preschool kid who watches NICK JR HD CH:115 will enjoy hours worth of fun and engaging shows such as paw patrol, blaze and the monster machine and more.
kids will learn more from shows such as wallykazam on nick jr than they would watching shows on cbeebies because they will be a lot more engaged and interested due to the fact nick jr's programming is just more entertaining for everybody in the family.

I truely feel sorry for anybody with freeview who is too niave to realise that there watching bottom of the barrel BBC content. CITV is worse, both channels should be closed. CITV isnt even in HD and none of the freeview channels run 24/7.

also none of the freeview kids channels have created world wide successfull shows in the same way as CN or nicktoons Disney XD ctc..

would anybody actualy pay to watch CBBC or CITV if they were given a choice.

0/10

Poor effort.

Though it does read like the resident Sky employee what loves Fluid Viewing (TM) paying full price and the outstanding range of high quality programming only found on Sky.

not a poor effort.
The younger ones in the house don't feel compelled to watch any of the free stuff whether it be recorded or live.
Laugh at fluid viewing all you like, but living with a shared planner is something you will deem essential .
Sky is head and shoulders above the competition for it's viewing convenience.

The younger ones can watch tv on the go with the sky kids app, enjoy live tv on a games console or resume their favorite shows no matter which room of the house there in.

They don't watch tv all day, so the shows they have time to watch must be top notch.
Now the smaller ones in the house are so used to watching the high quality US cartoons that all there friends are talking about, it would be almost impossible to cancel my subscription without sending shockwaves throughout the entire family.

We have the Now TV kids pass for my niece and nephews and they are perfectly happy with that. No need for overpriced Sky subscriptions when £2.99 brings a few more channels plus they prefer CBeebies and CBBC.

The last time I looked on Sky the 'top notch' channels from Nickelodeon also went to teleshopping around midnight so they certainly weren't 24 hours either. I think we have another person who believes only the best programmes are on Sky and anything on Freeview or Freesat is automatically poor.

BIB

or be a more responsible adult and actually limit the amount of tv watched by their kids in the first place regardless of Pay TV or not.

cool??! you really must try harder at trying to troll.

does it matter if something is in HD or not? surely the entertainment is in the programme itself regardless of whether its in HD and why would it matter if it is 24/7 or not? whos kids are up 24/7?

You really think it is better for children to watch wall to wall American cartoons with loads of adverts than mostly British made content, advert free, fun but with an educational focus?

I can't decide if you are being serious or not.
