Can't get anything here, but then again my lovely neighbour next door has the TV on which blots out everything between 150 khz and 6000 khz!
252 usually punches through the interference but I can't hear it at the moment.

Yes a high cost transmitter with no listeners. I'm surprised long wave lasted in to the second decade of the 21st century.

The number of posts suggests it's got more listeners now that it's off the air.

Off again today at 1330, I wonder if they are doing the old trick of seeing if anyone does listen to 252 in Eire / Ulster, as today it was announced the RTE are €20 million in debt.

I know TDF made their transmittion of France Bleue on 864 with bad modulation for a while to see if they got any complaints

according to RTE teletext P169 (tech info) it is due to be off-air today as well:

RTÉNL - Summerhill, Co. Meath

Due to essential maintenance our
Summerhill transmitter is off the air, 27th June.

This essential work will affect LW radio from this transmitter.

RTÉNL apologise for any inconvenience caused by this necessary work.

rte 252

Despite the RTE message I just checked and heard RTE on 252khz just after 12.00 BST today, a record request programme with the usual Algerian signal in the background.
AFter dark Algeria swamps the faint RTE signal here in Brighton.

Same in my neck of the woods. 252 is certainly not as strong as it was in the Atlantic days.
Or maybe it's because RTE 1 is mostly a talk station and because of this we can hear Algeria a lot clearer now than we used to when Atlantic was playing mostly music?

RTE are running 300KW whereas Atlantic used 500KW daytime. RTE and Atlantic should be the same at night, both 100KW.

I used to be able to get decent reception on Atlantic at night near Reading on a Matsui MR4099 portable by turning it to null out Algeria but on a car radio it was very hit and miss.

Oh yes the lovely Matsui MR4099. I had the Saisho equivalent. Fantastic audio on those things!
