Is Charlotte Church's Crazy Chick one of the best pop songs ever?
Was just listening to this song and realised how bloody good it was!!
It's so infectious and really packs a kicking beat and tune behind it. Its probably one of best pop songs ever in my opinion. What do you reckon? |

I think you need to listen to more classic hits so your opinions are better informed and in turn better formulated. It's not bothering Do You Know The Way To San Jose? or Why Do Fools Fool In Love? by a long, long way.

As pop songs go it definitely ticked all the boxes. Gives me good memories. Shame nothing else she released (pop wise) lived up to the success.

I still remember this song and how much i loved it when it was out. Haven't listened to it since though so i think it's more of a hidden gem.

That's kind of my issue with it. Few people sing it today and as such I doubt it will stand the test of time. Meanwhile songs like Layla, Hey Jude or even more recent ones like Love Is All Around by Wet Wet Wet or Stars by Simply Red might not all be considered top quality but at least they have lasted in people's living memories and still get regular radioplay as a result on the easy listening stations.
Charlotte Church doing Pie Jesu has more of a shot since it was so remarkable to seeing her so song witch such skill and range. Now every other 6 year old on BGT can do it. |

To be fair her jiggling tits and legs in Call My Name's video are quite memorable but her album was by the numbers pap pop.

I'm a sucker for curvy ladies in fishnets and corsets. Fiona Bruce and the rest of the newsreaders doing Chicago songs for Children In Need remains a high point for me. Actually donated a fiver that time.

After, otherwise they could have rolled out Dawn French as a joke in the same clobber and then I'd have had to demand my license fee back.

It's a fab, fun song. I still have it on my iPod so I still hear it occasionally and it always makes me smile

No it's not. But there are quite some unfair comments about this song and I wouldn't cite Hey Jude, Do You know The Way to San Jose or Why Do Fools fall In Love to show why crazy Chick ain't among the greatest songs, especially because none of these classics are pop either...Crazy Chick is a very good song though. It is catchy and has this retro feel that sort of recalls the Motown sound. It suited Charlotte's voice and more than 7 or 8 years later it still sounds fresh! At least to me...

I've never warmed to this song for some reason. It sounds like an early Girls Aloud song, so in theory I should absolutely love it, but there's just something about it that puts me off. I prefer the other three singles from the album - Moodswings, Even God and Call My Name - although I think Charlotte only really found her niche as a popstar when she released Back To Scratch.

i really liked the retro sound on this song with the horn section and it really did compliment her voice. i also liked the follow up `call my name` and that too had a retro feel. its a shame the rest of the album didn't quite sit at that standard, because i really thought she was onto something with these initial releases.
