Probably September/October, Apple always host an Event then and last year the iPhone was announced at that event so chances are they will do the same this year.

Cant understand why they would release a new handset after only a year and before people say 'its Apple what do you expect' etc I still think it will be closer to 18 months between 4s and 5.

Seems to be the way of the whole industry now to release a new product each year - and Apple like a new phone to go with the updated iOS

Why? Every phone manufacturer releases at least one phone a year, it's the norm.

If anything Apple are the odd ones out - every other manufactuer has a whole range of phones that they update all the time...Apple only has one

Yeah because Apple use previous models to cater for the lower end of the market with the new high end phone costing £500.

I could see Apple adding NFC this year as the time is about right, and it would be a good thing as Apple have a tendency of getting places to support what they do.

One thing you can count on is the same vastly inflated price for what it actually is and I am not trolling here. My missus pays 40 odd quid for a 4 when I pay 12 quid for a Desire S, a phone with broadly the same specs.

She was ripped off by her network then as I was paying £20 a month and I got it 6 month before the Desire S was even out.

Also even though the Desire S is 6 month newer it only sells for About £100 compared to £230 I can get for my iPhone 4.

Also if you compare the price for a Samsung Galaxy S3 to an IPhone 4S they are quite simular.

I have to agree with you there...You can get a 4S on a £36 month contract.

Yes but thats comparing a brand new 'latest' phone to a model that 8 months old. Carriers will bump up the price for the lates 'shiny-shiny'. In 8 months time the S3 will be considerably cheaper. Its only really the iPhone range where they pretty much fix the price for the whole year (maybe start reducing it when the new model is coming out).

Reason to dislike Apple number #573 in my book

Vodafone and yes I quite agree, a tlhough I asked her and its £35 not 40 odd. (she took out the contract 8 montrhs before the release of the 4s).

BIB: Yes they are similar. A dual core phone is the same price as a quad core monster that is on a different planet technologically speaking. Overpriced iphone or under priced Siii?

It's actually called supply and demand, not something underhand that Apple are doing. The other handsets are reduced simply because otherwise no-one will buy them. Don't fool yourself into thinking that other companies are being generous, what a farcical concept in business !

This and it's only this...

The Networks reduce the price when people start holding out for the new iPhone and sales drop not when Apple decides.

It is also to be fair, Apple playing their 'premium product, premium price' card. They might well shift more iphones short term by knocking £100 quid off, but long term they want people to think of them as the best, and being the most expensive helps this.
