Lexxy baby I am so annoyed I was not approached

The Dollies seem to be my favourites so far, although ISC are a close second!

Zak's verdict:

Luke Bayer.

’Higher Love’ – The song suited you very well and whilst I don’t like the song itself, there’s no denying that. I thought James Vincent McMorrow had the high pitched aspect to his vocals which is something you and him obviously share, so yes, it was a good first choice by your mentor and as well as that, it was performed to a good standard. Well done!

’Only Love’ – THIS song I adore and it was also perfect for you. This is definitely one of my favourite performances of the night and I hope this song choices on its own is enough to secure yourself a place in the next round of the competition. I do think your vocals are perhaps a little better than what this song asks for, but I believe and hope that there’s plenty of time for that!

’Holocene’ – I think this song overdone it a bit with the ‘high pitched’ aspect I mentioned in the first song choice, however it’s not about what Bon Iver sounds like, it’s about what Luke Bayer sounds like and that being said, I thought it was another good song choice for you tonight. I would say it’s possibly the worst out of three, but still good nevertheless. Well done and good luck tomorrow night with the results.

Luke!!! I love this route that you are going down. I must say they are all pretty similar though which might hinder you. But I did like them all. Holocene is one of my all time favourite songs, and I thought it was great for you. So yeah if you make it past this round, shake it up a bit!!!

Hannah Bradbeer:
I'd never heard the Nicole song before tonight, but I thought it did work really well for Hannah! It was quite quirky and different, and I did really enjoy the performance. I absolutely LOVED the Imelda May song as well! I thought it was a perfect fit for Hannah, and really allowed her vocals to shine. I also really enjoyed the Amy song, it was the type of song I could imagine Hannah releasing as a single herself. Overall I thought this was a really great start for Hannah! Everything was well within her comfort range, yet there was a subtle quirkiness beneath it all and I cannot wait to see what Pete plans to do with you.

I Sette Cantanti:
I liked that Zak took a risk with you guys, and displayed a very different genre with you from the first performance. The TDCC song wasn't the best possible choice for you guy, but I thought it was fun and vocals were great. A different TDCC song may have worked better, but it was still a good first performance. Broken Jaw was definitely my favourite performance from you guys tonight, and I think Zak should definitely go more down that route with you. As for the Arctic Monkeys song.. to be honest I wasn't a fan. I don't think it really worked that well for you. I can kinda see what Zak was going for, but for me it was a bit too much of a typical indie choice which should be avoided imo. I did enjoyed you guys tonight though, and I think you'd definitely be one of the most interesting acts, especially if Zak focused on songs with more "layers" as Aliyah said, to play on the dynamic you have as a group.

Kerry McGregor:
I appreciate Dylan's attempt to make Kerry more modern and interesting with the Metric choice, though I don't think it did work entirely. However I do think it's important to take risks with Kerry as she is an act that I think people do tend to dismiss as boring/cannon fodder in these games. The Sia choice was a much better choice however! Sia is an interesting one for me as I personally find her music very hit or miss, though I thought this song worked brilliantly and showed Kerry's vocals whilst having a really fun quality. Another good choice here. I did prefer the Sia choice, though I thought this was really a great choice. Overall, I'd say that Dylan has succeeded in making Kerry modern and actually interesting, and I am looking forward to seeing what he will do with her if she progresses past this stage!

Dolly Rockers:
Well of course, you ladies were the best of the night! I chose the CSS song as it was full of attitude which is exactly what you girls are about in my opinion. It was so full of energy and was a very slick performance. And again with the Sohodolls song, I thought it really allowed to stand out without being as out there as the CSS song. It had a strong, quirky melody and your personalites came across with the more spoken word parts. And then I absolutely LOVED the 2:54 song from you ladies! It's one of my favourite songs at the moment and it showed off a more restrained side compared to your pervious two performances. It was so atmosphere, and I thought your harmonies were brilliant! We'll just ignore Zak's comments as he suggested I should take you down a diva route?! To be honest, I have a lot of ideas for you ladies that I think would be so much more interesting to explore rather than a typical diva route. Finally, let me just say that I am SO glad I ended up with the Dolly Rockers - they were who I was hoping for after I swapped the McDonalds Brothers almost immediately!

Luke Bayer:
I think you're an interesting pick Luke, and I'm looking forward to seeing you in this competition as one of the more unknown acts. You have a great voice, and Higher Love was a great song to show this. It was almost perfect for you, and your vocals sounded brilliant. It is a bit of an overplayed song now imo but I do really like it so it's fine by me! The Ben Howard was also a good choice, though perhaps a little forgettable? It was the song that stood out the least of the three for me. And as for Holocene, it is one of my favourite Bon Iver songs so of course it was nice to hear it. It may have been a bit falsetto heavy, as I think the whole range of your voice is great, but it was a stunning performance. I think you have a great chance of doing well in this game Luke as you have a great voice and a clear direction - my only criticism would be for Justin to perhaps be a bit riskier in future as I think the three songs tonight were by quite similar artists and I could imagine it becoming slightly boring hearing it each week? But really I am a fan Luke, and I do want to hear more from you.

(Sorry for the walls of text, I wrote a bit more than intended. )

Hey guys, sorry been having net problems since posting NTA results! Briefly, from my phone -

ISC
A fun and feisty start, though the songs have all obviously come from the indie pop stock cupboard. Not a knock as O used the same cupboard for Frankie; just don't forget their quirky harmonies!

Kerry
I've always thought Kerry would be an interesting act to mentor, and I liked how you individualised her. Amanda Mair was my favourite here but a good start.

Dollies
A great start for these ladies. Energetic and interesting, THIS is how you start the show with a bang.

Luke
Justin finally has the boys! I liked these choices and I already have a feel for Luke as an artist. I'd like to see what else Justin has planned too.
