OK, first and foremost before it starts. I have no wish to, and inor am i, dissing the obvious thought and sentiment behind charity records. BUT, there has been an awful lot of crap been released on vinyl and cd in the name of charity, BandAid20 being the latest.

What is the worst charity record that you have heard.

Personally, i have to go with the Bananarama release of Help for Comic Relief.

I like this version of Do They Know It's Christmas! So there!

The worst charity record in my opinion is Shane Richie "singing" I'm Your Man - last year's CIN single. Complete with hole in his trousers in the video!

This year's comes close.

Oh god yeah, The Stonk, I loathed that one with a passion. Maybe Mr Blobby too, was that a charity record? Can't remember, maybe not

Sid Owen & Patsy Palmer (Ricky and Bianca Butcher from Eastenders) deserve an honourable mention for their painfully bad "Better Believe It" released for Christmas 1995 for Children in Need.

Happily, it's long been deleted.

Also who remembers The Gift of Christmas featuring E17/ Eternal etc from around 1996-1997? That was dire.

sorry but this threads pointless - its not about the record its about the people around the world the record saves, the people who sing on these records give up their time to help people less fortunate than themselves to have a better life, its never about oh that records crap its about the people it saves, if someone doesnt like the record they may not buy it but all the people that like it or care for helpless people all around the world buy it to help less fortunate people than themselves.

Any record that is done for charity!!!!!!!

Bandaid20 is a flat and totally pointless recording, who needs a rap?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Follow Frank Skinner's advice pay £4 to the local record shop and get them to keep the change and the Band Aid20 CD. fairs fair.

I am 26 and I know Live Aid and Band Aid 1 & 2 very well, and I say the 2004 version is the best yet!. Well done Bob & Midge and all the other artists on the record. Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Grumpty souls.

I don't think Band Aid 20 is that bad. Its just all these sad middle aged farts who are dissing it because the orginal reminds them of their lost youth.

I agree entirely with the last two posts (but one!). "Sad and middle-aged" just about sums them all up. And I am way past middle age! I like Band Aid 20 better than the original.

I'm not middle aged, but I hate the new Band Aid record and there's no way I'd buy it.

But if the record was decent, it would sell more copies and therefore help more people wouldn't it

I shall be putting my £4 in a charity box.

I have to agree that "Gift of Christmas" was very poor...

Add to the list:

Rachel Stevens - "Some Girls" (Sports Relief - the biggest non-charity ever)
Girls Aloud - "I'll Stand By You"
Shane Ritchie - "I'm Your Man"

That is an amazingly naive view. I mean, has it never crossed your mind that if these so called selfless "singers" gave just 10% of their yearly income extracted from the gullible saps that buy their excuse for music, more money would be raised than releasing some tinpot charidee record designed solely to make people feel guilty for not being half dead in a desert?

2 questions for you:

would you give 10% of your wage a year to them?

if you were famous would you give 10% of your wage?

theres giving time and effort to realease a charity song that not only gives money but also raises AWARNESS of whats happening which means EVERYONE pulls together and GIVES money to help not just celebrities, just beacuase they earn more doesnt mean they should give it away.

also why dont big companies worth millions and millions of pounds give money??????????????????
