What relevance does this thread have to Broadcasting?

If sport is discussed here it is BROADCASTING discussion. If you want to talk about other BROADCASTING issues, please create a decent thread, cheers now!

The threads are about the broadcasting of sports and sporting events, not the ability of Andy Murray or Wayne Rooney. I don’t see how it’s an issue

To be fair, sport is the main broadcasting focus this Summer, so it's to be expected.

As someone recently said, if you take the Sport out of this forum all you'd be left with is people moaning about the License fee.

When I just counted the threads on the front page, 9 out of 30 were about sport. Hardly taking over the forum.
Anyway, the threads are about the broadcasting coverage, and not necessarily about the sport itself. There are a few that could be merged (the amount of ESPN ones is unnecessary, along with the BT Premier League presenter one, which could easily go into the 'rights' thread because it adds nothing to the forum), but people obviously don't do their research and clearly can't wait to post something irrelevant, but there you go. |

There are threads on here that don't interest me, I just don't click on them and move on to the next one that does.

So true but in all seriousness what do you expect with Euro 2012, Wimbledon, the Open Golf an the Olympic & Paralympic Games. As a sport lover I say bring it on.

Sports rights are a major part of the broadcasting industry so its only correct to discuss rights deals, bidding and general coverage of events here.

sport is a very large part of broadcasting and to some people most of what they watch is sport. Also television and radio rights are important discussion points, in fact if a sport goes totally to Sky, many people will be unable to afford to watch it.
I'm not the world's biggest sports fan, I find many sports as interesting as watching paint dry, but take a keen interest in broadcasting rights. |

It doesn't bother me. I simply don't read the threads. Anyway the threads in this forum are related to sports coverage on TV.

I have long thought that should be a separate group under Broadcasting for Sport. In the same way that there are group headings for Soap, Big Brother, TV Show: US etc.
Is there any reason why this can't be done? It shouldn't just be restricted to TV but also include radio. |

Whilst I mostly discuss sport, there are a lot of duplicated/similar threads around at the moment - particularly those about BT, and about Euro 2012. On the first two pages we have: - BT and Sky win Premier League rights from 2013 to 2016 - Euro 2012 Coverage - The Good and the Bad - La liga Tv rights - ESPN showing Brazilian Serie A - Live Football League game on Sky Sports - Euro 2012 - Broadcasting and scheduling - Football League fixtures 2012-13 - Sports commentators (non-football) - Espn fa cup - Football Commentators Thread - Live Premier League Games 2012-13 - The next big TV rights deal: The Olympics - BBC Wimbledon coverage 2012 - F1 Coverage - The Verdict: 2012 Season - BBC Olympics advert on Sky Really all we need is Football Broadcasting (I tend to find that commentators and other aspects of broadcasting are more easily discussed in the same thread), Euro 2012 coverage, Sports broadcasting (non-football), F1 Coverage, Wimbledon coverage and other threads when there is major news (e.g. BT, discussion of the future Olympic deal) or for other major events. The idea to link more closely with the Radio section is a good one. I tend not to head over there, but would pay more attention if it was all contained within a Sports Broadcasting forum. |
