blackberry curve.....................
how can i tell which one i have? alternatively, how can i restore my sms icon to the home screen or access it from elsewhere?

If you pop the battery out, the sticker underneath with the IMEI, serial number etc should also have the model number on it.

Looking at your other question again, now that I re-read it I think I might know the answer. When you say the 'SMS icon' do you mean at the bottom of the page as part of the sort of 'dock' thing? |

Yeah, that's what I meant, the row of icons at the bottom of the screen.
That row on the homescreen is the same as the top row of your main menu, so all you have to do is rearrange the main menu so that the SMS app is in the top row and it will reappear on the homescreen. To do that, you open the main menu, scroll over to the SMS icon, press the menu/'BB' key (the one that looks like the Blackberry logo) and select 'Move' from the options - that will allow you to scroll around until you've got the SMS icon where you want it, then you press the select button (the track ball/optical trackpad depending on which model you have) and that should be it. |
