Hi there,

Just wondering, every few seconds the amp "clicks" - as in the same way when you turn it on - it clicks - but it is clicking in all modes and every time i alter the volume it clicks - but now it clicks every 2 seconds - any ideas?

It has started today - here are the things that have changed:

- New RCA-3.5 cable (was crap Argos ) now crap Maplins
- The headphones have been taken out of the port (it has a Speakers on /off button)
- I have moved it to the other side of the room...

It's got to be something internal - can i get it repaired, should I chuck it out?

Cheers
Alex

Hi Alex,

I had this same problem with a Kenwood amp, the relay's were ticking.

Right, the most likely cause is thus.

The speaker cables are shorted.

The thing to do is:

Disconnect everything from it (leave mains in) and then try it, with no speakers or anything, does it still click?

Get tha'sen on MSN!

Mine started doing a similar thing quite a while ago but recently it got worse. It originally just made a clicking noise then it progressed to only having the sound coming through one speaker. It was clicking then the sound was only coming out of a certain speaker, then it would switch to another one before coming through all the speakers properly. However, it would behave itself for a while and then start acting up again.

Anyway had enough of it last Saturday trying to watch a dvd, replaced it with a Denon dht500sd system which is fantastic. The old system immediately stopped acting up once I had ordered the new system though! Anyway it has been relegated to the bedroom now.

Well, it's back again - yet this time, it doesn't stop. It is fine on the heaphones - where you turn the speaker on/off knob to the left. But for use with the speakers it's a joke.

Repair it or chuck it?

Cheers, Alex

PS - If I turn the volume to 0 it clicks and then slowly turn it up it's OK - for 5 mins; if you turn the volume any further up than "20 to the hour" it's a joke...

I would just go out and buy another one. It sounds like it is a right pain at the moment.
