I put around 100 hours into it last year, but only touched half of the main story, and still have loads of side stuff left too (Thieves, Mages, Daedric...).

Not touched it since before Christmas. Love it, but in a way the size puts me off. Same thing happened with Oblivion.

I'll go back when there's nothing else out I want to play.

Yeah, after going away over Xmas I stopped. Then again, in TES games it's always the case (for me) that if I can get past that first 5-10 hours after going back to play it then I'll be hooked again. Trouble is I haven't been able to do that.

Still, I do think it's my favourite game this generation and when Dawnguard is released on PS3 I'm sure I'll get back into it. I mean, I played Morrowind on/off for years, and probably got 3 full playthroughs out of it.

Like the new additions to the forge. The ability to make your own arrows should have been in the base game. Daedric arrows no longer more rare than gold dust.
Spent most of my play time last night making arrows, both Daedric and Dragon Bone as well as Dragon Bone weapons. With all the materials for them I was carrying up to 1900lbs waddling around Whiterun.

Still keeping my Daedric armour and weapons. Dragon Bone may be the best stuff but it just isn't menacing.

Started Dawnguard.
Went as far as discovering the fort and picking up a crossbow and some bolts. Then decided to actually finish the main story so will leave the initial DG quest for a bit.

It's weird, so far the Dawnguard quest is 10x better than the Dragonborn main quest, I think Elder Scrolls main quests are better when you arent some sort of chosen one

I find the effective of arrow/bow really hard, as you have to try point it and fire it? Any special moves?

Rank up your bow skills. Concentrate on perks that deal damage, as well as the perks that slow time down when you're drawing your bow.

There aren't any 'special moves' as such, but things like slowing down time and drawing your bow quicker really help. If you want to deal more damage then going into sneak mode helps, but only up until the moment when people see you.

Upping your smithing skill can also help!

I did that til the blacksmith in Riverwood was killed pretty early on!

Dragons are all over Riverwood now. Revered Dragons at that, trying to steal souls.

I tend to run as far and as fast as I can so that the dragon follows me and nobody in Riverwood gets hurt then take that bitch out down the road. Aren't I nice.

Also Goaty, try creating potions that increase your abilities.
I have several potions of True Shot that deal 150% extra bow damage.
I always carry poisons too. Poison your bow for the next shot to deal poison damage.
Of course you'll have to increase your Alchemy and Enchanting skills to get potions of that calibre, but worth it.
Try to find/create an enchanted bow with fire/frost/shock damage.

im not really into that sort of game - but i got it bought for me , so gave it a ago.

I completed the main story line within a few weeks, and some, but not all of the side quests.

I have to admit, I never fully got my head round it, as it's very very complex... I wasnt very good at casting spells, etc.

Not played on it for ages now.

Thats me just gone through the dawnguard dlc, it added on anothe 24 hours for me, i did do alot of fetch side quests for my dawnguard buddys hoping that i would get something good, i did get a dawnguard shield and mace but nothing special. Dlc was completely worth it for me.

Best part about it was that at some point i picked up an enhanced crossbow that has a perk already on it, knocks 50% off enemy armour. I was at an enhancing table and i was able to add on 2 more enchantments, giving me 3 in total. The description never changed for the weapon, but the price did and it also glows purple, i think i added on electric damage 40 points and ice damage 40 points. Once i did some smithing, damage for a dragon crossbow was 45 and this enhanced crossbow was 43.

So my enhanced crossbow -
damage 43
38-40 damage points for electric
38-40 damage points for ice
50% off enemy armour points

Shame i only have 2 perks in archery though.

I did have 6 or 7 crashes while playing through the dlc on the xbox. Not sure if that is down to the dlc or the fact that i am 185 hours in.

It has been a while since i had last played but has there always been dragon weapons, i thought that there was only armour

So I was attacked by a werewolf last night, who had the name tag 'Farmer', I googled this and no one had mentioned it happening before - it was just outside Whiterun too.

I've always found the DLC main quests in most Bethesda games more compelling than the main game main quest. New Vegas might be the exception.

New Vegas was made by Obsidian, so that explains it

Well I just started this again tonight, being a woodelf this time instead of s dark elf so being very sneaky and thiefy about everything last time I just flew through the game so this time I'm taking my time with everything and even doing as many miscellaneous quests as I can because I usually only bother with a couple of them. I've gotta say though I forgot how good this game is!
