He saw it as a perk? Why did he assume perks existed in prison?

When he said there had been a serious incident in the kitchen I was expecting him to walk into a big pool of blood on the floor and a dead body.. someone stole an onion and some garlic!

This reminds me of the Porridge episode where Godber steals from the prison kitchen and hides the stuff underneath his chef's hat.

Not to mention onion juice. If that gets in your eyes you'll know about it.. The guy could hold the entire prison to ransom with that kind of arsenal.

I used to work with offenders, and this the most common misconception that they have. It's that 'the system is wrong and that they are the victims of it'.

It seems to show how stupid the prison system is here with the choices of food & calling that scum customers.

So I was on track.

Whilst they can stop the unemployed person's money, what can they do about a prisoner telling them to get lost?

It will get to a stage where it will be better to be in prison than unemployed.

I am surprised some people didnt like this show. I felt i learnt more about the prison system in a 1 hour cookery show than i did from Lifers.
And i didnt find Gordon cowardly at all - he had to change his demeanour towards the prisoners, even the screw asked him not to be hotheaded and rise to anything.
I hope the project works but have not heard much about it so guessing it hasn't.

I thought this was a joke when I saw it advertised.

GR can't even discipline himself let alone a dozen criminals. He is not able to adapt his own behaviour to varying situations or moderate his language for the cameras but he is expecting this lot to.

What a f*****g liberty Gordon.

The big surprise to me was seeing Mr Ramsay behaving himself, no angry swearwords, no being rude to anyone, or being disrespectful to anyone, I am soooo shocked that Mr Ramsay decided to behave himself in a prison as most of these "geezers" would have wiped the floor with him and I for one would have applauded!!!!!
