As the nexus 7 will live in my work bag most of the time and I don't want to damage it. I notice the sleep sensor doesn't work as the magnet on the case is in the wrong place, but no big deal.
Cheers for that - it'll do nicely.

My Google and my Curry's order both arrived today. Luckily the Curry's one arrived first, so I was able to refuse delivery on the Google one.

Quite impressed so far. Solid build, very good screen. Android takes a bit of getting used to. And not particularly keen on Google's attempts to get as much data from me as possible. But can't fault the device so far, for the money.

Yes that's the main thing I don't like about Google. Just leave me alone.

What version of MX Player is best for the Nexus? What is it classed at in terms of the Codecs? E.g. ARMv?

If it's anything like my tablets - once you install MX player and attempt to play a file, the player itself notifies you which codec to install and links directly to it on the Google Play store.

You don't get a physical voucher, sign into the Play Store and it will appear as a payment option.

Mine has just arrived and I love it! It's a sexy bit of kit!

Just having to get used to everything being in a different place to my Gingerbread phone.

Games look awesome. Tried Angry Birds Space and Temple Run so far as well as streaming from Netflix and it all runs smoothly and looks fantastic!!

I'm hoping to go without a case.

Quick question - do Google use Parcelforce for delivery?

No. They used TNT for UK shipments.

Computer 2000 are handling the logistics on behalf of Google, and as said they are shipping with TNT.

To clear up an earlier point too, they won't deliver it to a neighbour if you are out. It will go back to the depot and you will have to either re-arrange delivery or collect from the depot.

Also, for those who have ordered elsewhere and looking to reject the shipment from Google to get a refund you can do this over the phone if you have the consignment number, and TNT have a freephone customer service number.

They tried to deliver mine today while I was at work, and it's already on the way back to Google without me even seeing the package.

Meanwhile, my one with free delivery from Curry's is due for delivery tomorrow, and I'm conveniently already down to work from home tomorrow!

Sod paying £9.99 delivery for nothing.

and Google gave TNT a load of incomplete addresses apparently which has caused a lot of confusion and non delivery in some cases.

This tablet is an absolute steal for the price, I can't get over how good both the build quality and performance are, very impressed and pleased with the purchase, Google really thought this through in my view.

My "tracked" package from Currys wasn't signed for. Post man said it didn't need it. Should I claim it was never delivered?!

Muwahahah!!!!

The Nexus 7 also fits a neoprene sleeve for the 7" Kindle Keyboard. Those are abundantly available and dead cheap.

maybe i'll get one of those. i don't want to routinely keep it in a case because that seems like a waste of getting something shiny and thin. but i might like a bit of protection from time to time.

You should always use protection ;-)

Seriously. I keep my Samsung Galaxy II in my pocket w/o protection, sometimes together with keys, etc. The glass is immaculate.
The tablet goes into a sleeve outside the house to protect it not so much against scratching but more against falls. My Kindle has a crack because I felt asleep while reading, and dropped it onto the hardwood floor (which promptly woke me up again).

Remove the widget? Press and hold on it, then swipe it up and off the screen to remove it.
