can we now declare Superstar an official flop?

So around 1.4m for first BB show, but ouch for the 2nd show. I know it was 11pm but still!

If it drops below 2 million, but it seems settled around the 2.5-3 million mark so is a near flop. I think the public have seen this as one talent/reality show too many and apart from committed fans of the genre , no one else is interested. I've only heard one person mention it.
However, Charnham, I doubt this will come back and I wonder if ALW will think again about working for ITV.

Cycling here is something people here do until their teens, then they realise how dangerous it is as an adult. Countries like Denmark have 25% or so regular cyclists - ie commuting daily. Just because Bradley has won, you will not see cycle lanes fitted to every main uk street...

I didnt mean there would be a rush of cycle lanes, just that it becomes a bigger sport, and yeah maybe teens continue to cycle. I stopped as a teen because of my accident, regeat it now.

Superstar isn't doing terribly bad. I think some people have exaggerated how bad it's performed. Yes, it's no where near what many ITV shows get, and I predicted around an average of 4.5m, but I won't call it a flop until it goes under 2m. It's on the borderline of flop at the moment. Basically, if it goes down another 500k, a flop, if it goes sup another 500k to 3.2m than doing "okay". The ratings are just poor, but not a catastrophe

It seems to be a mirror image of where Popstar to Operastar was this time last year, always in the 2.5-3 million zone. I wasn't predicting a massive rating for Superstar, but I was in the same mind of you and predicted 4 million. The show isn't a disaster, but I doubt we'll be seeing it again.

Poor for the football, but backs up the theory that in Britain at least football fans don't care about the Olympic tournament and Olympic fans don't care about the Olympic football.

It's been growing since Beijing at least, but so true about the danger. I didn't give it a second thought as a kid cycling along the main road, but not sure I'd ever contemplate it now.

Saw that tonight and it was good viewing. I'd like to see it do well as the story was brilliant.

I enjoyed it, but I did wonder if the second episode should have seen an appearance by someone from Holby City, a surgeon being an example.

During the Olympics the football gets shown on BBC3 rather than BBC1. The final is on One but that's 3 o'clock in the afternoon** on the final Saturday.

I think the friendly on Friday and next Thursday's opening game for the GB men (the day before the Olympics officially begins) go out on BBC1 cos it's Summer and what else are BBC1 going to put on?*** Easy way to fill the schedule.

DS have begun to post the ratings from the back end of last week... Nothing really interesting...

That just about sums up all ratings lately. I guess things should get interesting from Friday though - do we know if the extra 24 Sky/Virgin channels will have their ratings reported? I guess individually they'd be in tens of thousands at best but it would be good to have the collective figure.

I'm not watching it as I only returned from holiday on Tuesday & the reaction I saw to it on internet said - avoid it. ALW it seems has lost credibility in that he always talked about his shows being about nuture not humiliation. Going to ITV seems to have meant that he has lowered his standards to 'their' reality! In fact the last show on BBC he did was already deteriorating. The earlier shows really had had a genuine feel about them & relationship between Graham Norton/ALW tv gold. Last show he did was so scripted & just contrived. The winner was so signposted for viewers it became ridiculous. If ALW knows who he wants for a role just give it to them don't go through this palaver & play folks for fools.

Looks as though we might have to think again about Olympics opening ceremony ratings, as there now looks likely to be quite a bit of rain around that night.

I often wonder if ALW has lowered his standards. It hasn't been as awful as something like TXF, but has been a letdown all the same and I gave up rapidly. I doubt we'll be seeing this next year.

His lordship only went to ITV because the BBC rejected the idea of an LE programme involving Jesus Christ. I suspect his next venture will be back with the BBC.

why would the BBC have the turn coat back? he has made his bed this licence fee payer is more than happy for him to lie in it.
