With the first of this afternoon's matches on Centre only just finishing, and with a potentially lengthy second match to come, it looks like the BBC will have some difficult scheduling decisions tonight with the Murray match.

Will BBC One start Raiders of the Lost Ark? If it goes past 9pm, what will go - Casualty or the big Shakespeake adaptation? And if they have to put the roof on, they'll have an awkward half hour break in the middle of primetime, perhaps an opportunity to squeeze in the Lottery draws.

It will be interesting, but currently very unlikely to start until 6.30 at the very earliest, but possibly much later.

Just to round off my earlier post, the series average for The Bachelor series 4* was 1.20m overnight (~6.7%), 1.36m consolidated.

* There were three 'civilian' series on BBC3 between 2003 and 2005. Amusingly, the bachelor didn't pick a winner in series 1 and 3!

You mean "Yet Another" wake-up call. Henson worked because he was a celebrity with a talent, every other of these type of shows when they've tried to throw in talentless z-listers and built a show around them has failed, Amy, Josie, Tamara, now it looks like this bloke, and they all get masses of publicity and often great lead-ins.

Anyway though, whatever can be said for normal BB, it's worth of getting ratings as a lead-in seems to be negligible.

Yes, potentially tricky. I know I said last night that non-digital/computer owners should be accommodated, but I feel that tonight there might be a case for continuing tennis on BBC3 at 9pm if Murray is still on. It's only a film repeat that would be displaced (Poseidon, a remake of the 1972 disaster movie - getting only two stars in the Radio Times). They really mustn't move that flagship drama on BBC2, and I'm sure they won't.

Just another thought on last night's scheduling - the BBC would have saved quite a bit by dumping the New Tricks repeat. Not sure if it's still the case but I think actors used to get 60% of their original acting fees for primetime repeats. [EDIT: after a bit of research it looks like it's not a flat percentage. But still pretty costly] Continuing tennis on BBC1 will have cost - what, a bit of overtime for presenters/crew?

Hmmm, I'd keep Wimbledon on BBC One throughout, and have the BBC News and BBC Regional News bulletin in the gap between match 2 and 3 on centre court. Is that possible?

Agreed, althogh even ITV 2 are commissioning some new drama I'm sure. I would love for Channel 5 to attempt to dip in some original comedy or drama.

I can see BBC1 staying as it is until 9:10 - show Wimbledon on BBC2 until 9:10pm (starting The Hollow Crown a little late, which would annoy those who have set to record it!!), Casualty can be pushed back to the end of the Murray match if needed, clip the News and show Mrs Brown's Boys afterwards. I think the scheduling is tricky, maybe The Hollow Crown ought have been originally scheduled on BBC4/HD?

Well Roddick is currently flying so Murray might be on earlier than expected. Only 18 minutes gone and 5-2 in first set.

Quite like that idea DMN, not sure if there's really enough time between matches however.

That said the good folks at ITV 1s, Real Crime, seem to value my opinion very highly when it comes to there show, they asked me about casting yesterday

I used to think the same with The Mentalist/Castle which previously occupied the same slots on Friday nights. To me, these shows are as closely compatible as it can possibly get. It would be almost impossible to like one and not the other I reckon. And yet, each and every week at 10pm, around 600,000 Mentalist viewers would change channels or turn off their TV.

It's quite interesting actually how closely last night's results with two entertainment shows mirrored the results of two back-to-back US dramas earlier in the year. Very similar performances, but obviously very different audiences.

Million Pound Drop 1.7m and 8.4% share, C4 must be pleased to have beaten a BB eviction.

Re cost of programmes is this factored in on commercial channels when they look at the ratings?

I was thinking of some of the shows made for ITV2 or C5. If an hour of TOWIE costs £100k and The Batchelor costs £150K and they both get similar ratings, would The Batchelor be regarded less succesful because of its cost?

Not at all. I think given what's occurred this week and how poor last night's episode was, 1.48m is not a bad figure at all. It was significantly up on the 1.26m that watched the equivalent episode last series.

I must admit I haven't particularly enjoyed the past week of Big Brother but ratings wise I think it's done fine. I'm fast coming around to the opinion that these day-to-day fluctuations based on competition are not worth getting too worked up about as it seems to recover ok afterwards.

Next week's task does sound promising so hopefully they can get this series back on track, and with the football out of the picture bring a bit more stability to the ratings.

But the last series did not have +1 which can make it appear more people are watching when it looks likely to be the same people viewing the show twice.

Actually Channel 5 learned from their mistakes with these Z lister shows and scrapped them. Actually the public's appetite for reality shows based around reality show contestants is waning as Peter Andre My Life gets around a third of the audience Katie and Peter did.

Yes, 130,000 people sat and watched that terrible episode of BB again immediately after watching it the first time. That makes total sense doesn't it?

The rating excluding +1 was still up on last series so it's a bit of a moot point anyway, but the argument you are putting forward there is just bonkers.

I think it's a no brainer - it'll stay on BBC1 until the conclusion, as is often the case on the middle Saturday anyway. They may break briefly for the news but that'll be it.

And why on earth is Casualty scheduled tonight - it's been off air throughout Euro 2012 and really should have wrapped up it's season before Eurovision rather than coming back for a week and then having a few more weeks off before returning for just a few weeks once again. I thought they had cut the number of episodes too.

Yeah - the ITV2+1 showing came 9th for that channel in week ending 10 June.

Yes, I think Andy23 was correct in describing Raiders of the Lost Ark as 'throwaway' and it is now headed for the dustbin for sure. I reckon the BBC knew a late Murray match was likely and Indiana Jones was a mere placeholder. Nothing wrong with that of course: no point putting something meaningful in the 6.30 slot in these circumstances. I do hope Secret Fortune makes it to air at some point, though: that's my favourite lottery quiz. Far better than the dull In It To Win It which inexplicably does so well in the ratings.

Tennis now over on 2, no mention by Sue of coming back on 1 after the News. Looks like we could be having Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Roddick/Ferrer could still go on for a good while, then they may decide to put the roof on before the Murray match which takes 30 mins - so if BBC1 join at 8.20 they would probably not miss a huge amount.

They will probably stick to the schedule until they can't, either moving to BBC1 at 9, or a bit earlier after a short Lottery (just the draws.)
