I think you need to add HD figures into the ITV1 numbers.

The best bet is to rely on DMN''s Ratings Thread chart, albeit it only counts the most watched single episode/event, and collates the football ratings into one overall broadcast, regardless of how the broadcasters agreed to report.

Bloody ratings chasers, quickly recommissioning this brilliant, witty, critically acclaimed show of the year so far just because it won its slot every week. Scrap the licence fee now...

Although in fairness, the strapline and first three words of the piece suggest a slight degree of ratings obsession....

I reckon the final will bow out with 3 million. However, it has struggled to better this for most of the season and the tabloids have been largely disinterested. At least, though, it didn't go anywhere near the Olympics as it would have been annihilated against the opening ceremony.

I see ITV1 aren't totally giving up in primetime next week, with quite a few new programmes (outside of the soaps) - Royal Greenwich, The Zoo, We Love the Monkees, The Briefs and Soham: A Parents Tale as well as some continuing series (e.g. Love Your Garden). Some of that may just be cheap filler instead of drama repeats (with actors fees to pay) but the Soham doc seems quite high profile and The Briefs actually looks quite interesting. So no white flag being held up by ITV1. And likewise from C4 and C5. Big Brother has a big challenge on Wednesday called 'The White Room'

With strong non Olympic alternatives from many channels, will be interesting to see how well the ratings hold up, how big the non-Olympic audience is, and whether it fragments across many channels?


I'm surprised they haven't tried to accomodate the news around those cycling events to keep them on BBC1. Slightly earlier/later news and a shorter running length would be justified in the circumstances (Tuesday's lunchtime news is at 1315, so the news times aren't fixed). I appreciate other big events at 5 and 7pm might make this difficult - though surely not impossible


Being beaten by cheap factual filler shows how underwhelming Superstar has rated. Credit to Love Your Garden though, and in winter it could surely be rating nearer to 4 million?

X-Factor: Winner Announced, would generate alot of discussion on this, from both sides of the debate.

If ITV reported the X Factor Final that way there would be uproar on here. Though interestingly Robbie has been an advocate of D.M.N. using the programming in BARB as listed by the broadcaster for the Euros in their top 30 list. I wonder if that stance would remain

I'd guess Monday 8pm and 9pm, Tuesday 7.30pm, Wednesday 8pm (hour long), Thursday 7.30pm and Friday 8pm. Though the way Cohen says 'seven episodes' makes it sound like seven separate episodes rather than a hour long episode.

Last nights finale of Australia's Got Talent rated so badly(down over 60% year on year) that Seven didn't even bother to have a seperate 'winner announced' segment. That must be a first for an Australian reality show of this kind.

Yeah... i didn't see that coming actually.The week will feature the return and of course the reveal of the murder and i think it's good the BBC planned these big episodes for the week after the Olympics (which i had stated) I've heard there will be (possibly) an double bill on the Monday,Ep on Wednesday and the following sunday but im not 100% sure this is true. I cant see where 7 episodes could go.

I do think the BEEB will be sneaky and advertise this week during the olympics/news

If I was BBC One I'd avoid putting EastEnders on a Sunday. Other than Christmas Day/Boxing Day/New Years Day I don't think it's ever aired in peaktime on a Sunday (could be wrong) and I think it'll get lost. I think the show would rate better if the BBC doubled up episodes on Monday and Wednesday.

It aired at 7:30pm on a sunday back in March/April (2009?) anyway it went against DOI and pulled in around 5.5m

I wouldn't double up on the Wednesday if anything have 8 & 9pm eps on Monday and Friday

Isn't Friday EastEnders' weakest night ratings wise? Why would they double it up then? Surely it'd make more sense to air a double on a Wednesday - traditionally BBC One's weakest night - which in turn would give a boost to the 9pm hour?

I didn't realise EastEnders aired on a Sunday before - that's an ok rating considering the opposition but Sunday's seem pretty stable for BBC One at the moment and, for me, the channel would benefit from having the episodes elsewhere.

If they run them Saturday or Sunday it might end up against X Factor.

It is but at the same time some of the BIG episodes have gone out on Fridays and done pretty well (the 20th & 25th for example)at one time most big episodes seemed to air on a Friday and keep people hanging on.

Yeah from what i remember the BBC didn't even mention the Sunday episode they kind of just stuck it in the 7:30pm slot and im not sure if DOI was the final

I dunno i guess time will tell but other than at xmas i don't ever remember having 7 episodes in a week .

A Saturday never crossed my mind as i don't think the BBC will put EastEnders out but then it's not impossible. I doubt the BBC will want to go against the XF and im sure ITV will want to avoid a Big episode of EastEnders aswell.
