The tube only runs a tad over Midnight. There are night buses but I doubt they can cope. Wimbledon isn't exactly just off Piccadilly Circus.

If Wimbledon wanted the District Line to run later in future years, I'm sure they could negotiate with the unions, and arrange for the drivers to be paid triple time, a week off in lieu and a bonus payment of £500.

But all times of the last buses and trains were been altered in advance and factored in months, in some cases years ago.

its more simple if I dont have to make room in my schedule for an addition episode, so that kind of thing works.

I do try not to say there is too much sport, but there doe seem to be alot of sport on at the moment, and looking into the future, some more to come.

As far as transport workers are concerned, some have called me a socailist, but even I am getting a little fed up with the London public transport workers, on the issue of the Olympics.

Its not a final, its not even a semi, its not even a quarter final.

If they wanted it to end in time, they should have started earlier The world wont end if it is concluded on Monday. The French Open FINAL and numerous golf play offs have gone to Mondays.

it would be pretty funny, to watch the reaction.

Almost worth doing, just for that really.

GeorgeS, if the match is in the middle of the 5th set at 11pm I think it makes sense carrying on. WHy stop for the sake of maybe 3-5 games which can be completed in 20 more minutes?

I'm just saying. Its not as critical as you ratings luvvies seem to think it is to finish it tonight. At the very least it ensures he makes it to week 2

Fact is hardly anyone cares about tennis apart from Wimbledon. Its like the Euros, no one would watch a match between Poland v Russia normally, but as part of a big hyped up tournament it can get 6million. Itv made bad decision gettign rights to French Open, only a few hundred die hards care about it and thats why no other broadcaster like BBC or Sky put in a serious bid for it.

If he doesn't make it, he becomes a plucky Scot rather than a Brit

I think the lines judges, umpire, and hordes of support staff would rather have a day off tomorrow. They would play it tomorrow rather than Monday, I think, because all the 4th-round matches are played on Monday.

Confirmation play will be suspended at 11pm regardless of the score. A message has been shown to the crowd.

Why don't they just stop after the end of this set, surely that is fairer than ending mid-set at 11

The authorities will probably turn up and tell them to put that fire out!

yes ITV4 getting a record share % for the 2 weeks is really a catastrophe. Even on ITV4 alone it will pay its way, if as you suggest the rights cost was minimal.

160 hours of coverage with an average hourly viewership of 200k per hour matches what the Europa League will deliver at a lower cost with a better audience profile

You know what I meant though, for Itv1 it was a flop. On a mainstream level, no one cares about tennis apart from Wimbledon and if Murray gets to semis or final of another grand slam.

And when comparing with BBC2's figures earlier this week (before it got interesting!) ITV1's figures don't look so poor in comparison.

Looks like BBC1 will just run an hour late tonight then, which considering they planned hand over to BBC News before 1am is possibly for the best.

this maybe worth tuning in for?

Can I be the person who has to announce the end of the game at 11pm?
