I think ITV can be summed up in four joyous letters F L O P, that just brings tears of joy to my eyes.

Almost a shame Mrs Brown Boys couldn't benefit from the Wimbledon lead in, but that wasnt to be.

Not forgetting their usual placebo, 22 year old clips of kittens falling off walls and people tripping over ladders, You've Been Framed. Had the once great people's channel achieved ratings like this 30 years ago, there would have been a round of sackings and a meeting with the IBA. I think ITV1 seems to lose the plot this time of year.
One thing could save them, though, the Wimbledon rights come up in 5 years time

ITV did badly. You Cannot Be Serious, ouch.

And Harry Potter, doesn't it normally rate over 5m

Agreed. I was saying exactly the same thing on the Casualty thread. A bit of perspective is needed - Casualty can wait - it's on 40 weeks of the year for goodness sake. Wimbledon is a two week torunament and as always, live sport and news will take precedence over pre-recorded action. Some people were saying that it was silly of the BBC in 2010 to show Gordon Brown's resignation live, breaking news which affected the whole country, instead of EastEnders.

Do these people not have any perspective?

To be sort of expected, but that's worse than FlopZone territory.

It isn't 30 years ago, I doubt BBC1's ratings would have been good enough 30 years ago either!

What would you have scheduled on ITV last night Glenn to rate better against such unpresidented tennis action?

So a repeat on BBC1, beginning at 11.35pm and finishing after midnight, beats every single ITV1 programme yesterday

Ouch, this must be one of their lowest Saturday primetimes ever recorded? Primevil could probably get a million more if pushed to 7:30pm or 8pm, it had the biggest plus 1 number suggesting more would watch it later. Might as well do it, got nothing to lose and it would be the highest rating of the night for them.

By the way, has there been any news on when The Dark Knight is scheduled to premiere yet? Would expect it to pop up in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Only 19 days until the next one is released in cinema.

Could we be pushing for an almost record lowest share for Saturday primetime on ITV?

Rhys is a team captain on the show, he was being interviewed about the show on Sunday Brunch earlier, he said "I am not sure if anyone watched it, even I was watching Murray play.."

Quote:
“18:30- Wimbledon 2012 - 5.59m (29.4%)
21:20- The National Lottery Draws - 5.82m (26.7%)
21:30- BBC News Update - 6.08m (28.2%)
21:35- Wimbledon 2012 - 6.95m (35.0%)
23:15- BBC News - 3.53m (25.7%)”

Impressive shares for BBC1, winning not over dominating the evening. 50% drop off for the News - BBC1 viewers bedtimes no doubt.

I think 2.6m/25% is pretty good for the third showing of that episode in 16 months, not finishing till after midnight!

So a primetime share of 9.6% for ITV1, and an average audience of 1.93m in peak. Truly, truly appalling figure for Paddy McGuinness. Bad luck, but it should still have done better.

This is actually a very important point - the BBC is supposed to have something for everyone. And BBC1 largely succeeds in this. Hence its 80%+ weekly reach figure, significantly ahead of ITV1 almost every week.

Without a shadow of a doubt the worst set of ITV figures I have ever witnessed. Absolute horror show for them.

It's easy to knock HP, and whilst it did rate badly for its standards, ITV have been knocking them out left right and centre lately so it devalues their worth on repeat showings. Imagine how low they may have gone had it been summer filler programmes all evening.

I'd imagine it's going to appear in the weekend of 14-15 July. They are showing Batman Begins again on 13 July so it makes sense.

Well, ITV Media reported that Saturday 16 June was ITV1's lowest Saturday primetime share ever at that point with 10% (rounded, including +1). That was facing BBC1's Poland v Czech Republic final group game which peaked with 7.0m. Last Saturday was good for ITV1 because they had Spain v France, so they didn't beat the record then. So for last night, including +1 and time-adjusting (counting all +1 channels as if they were PVR viewing), ITV Media may report a primetime figure pretty close to 10% once again, perhaps the worst ever.

It wouldn't make a big difference but Primeval should be on at 7; especially since they don't even consider 6 to be prime time.

It might have managed similar ratings to Harry Potter if it were consistently in that slot.

Woeful none the less and wouldn't have made a big difference. Still though no reason getting lower figures than you should be even if the change is small.

Whats that primetime share for ITV then?

fair enough, Mrs Browns Boys feels like the kind of show which would benefit from a high profile outing, like a superbowl outing, expect airing it after the Superbowl on the BBC would not have the desired effect.

A special episode following a big event, type deal, any Olympic 100 meters special maybe.

Cool fact: ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4's combined share was equal to that of ITV1 yesterday.

Good one, I would have scheduled another recent and popular film to follow Harry Potter. After all, for any sport, there is always an anti audience and a recent film would probably pull in 3-4 million viewers.
Maybe, though, ITV have a game plan which is to run a weak schedule between the Cowellathons as they know when TXF starts, they're guaranteed at least 9 million viewers and then the TXF builds up nicely to the ITV November, when the station has IAC and DA to guarantee them at least 8 million viewers.

It may have come across that I was criticising the BBC for the schedule change last night. I wasn't. It was the right decision IMHO.

I do think, though, that Wimbledon need to rethink their timetabling - when they came so close to having to carry over one of the games from Centre Court where they have a roof to avoid weather interruptions.

And, incidentally, another excellent rating for MBB there.

Yeah, 2.7m (inc +1) is undoubtably bad but compared to everything else it looks quite respectable! Especially over 2.5 hours. ITV really need to lay off the Potters for a while now. I've said it before but they just seem to chuck them out whenever there's a gap in the schedule and it is devaluing what is easily their biggest film asset right now. They should stick to running one or two at Christmas (Philosopher's Stone is probably one of those films that should, and indeed will, air every Christmas) and maybe a season of them all once every couple of years.

It didn't help that they picked Order of The Phoenix again, possibly the most overused of all of the Potters. Last night was its FIFTH primetime screening on ITV1 in a little over 2 years (it premiered in April 2010) so they got what they deserved. They might have got a slightly better result had they picked Goblet of Fire, which hasn't had anywhere near as many screenings (6 August 2011, 9 April 2010, 2 September 2009 and 5 October 2008) and has been less overexposed (admittedly OOTP is probably a superior film but that isn't really relevant).

Saturday 14 July makes most sense, as they'll have part two of The Nations Favourite Number One Single on the Sunday at 9pm, and I assume TDK will have be post watershed (could they get away with starting it just slightly before 9pm?) due to its content. It'll probably be Superstar at 8 and TDK at 9. TDK could rate really well what with the build up to the new film (5m+ perhaps).

You Cannot Be Serious is possibly one of ITV's biggest ever flops. That rating is so diabolical it is beyond description. Even flops from last year like Born To Shine, Show Me The Funny and The Marriage Ref didn't go that low in primetime (I think TMR might have got 1.4m for one of its 10pm episodes but there's a difference between 10pm and 7pm!). It should be pulled off next week's schedule and just replaced with an extra half hour of YBF as it could damage the whole evening (next Saturday has the launch of Superstar and the final of Let's Get Gold so they'll want good results).

Mad Mad World did terribly too but I'd give it another week before pulling it as it was against the end of the Murray match. It might not air the following week anyway if ITV do have TDK on that night.
