Or even Thursday at eight opposite Emmerdale as it'd offer a suitably male-skewing alternative for twenty weeks a year, and then allow both channels to hit the 8.30 junction.


I dunno if I mentioned it here but this show was supposed to be an hour long and was chopped down to half an hour in the edit, which explains why the rounds all seem to last about five seconds. I dunno why, maybe after The Mad Bad Ad Show flopped they decided they couldn't bear to have another hour long panel show (and rightly so, they're usually half an hour for a reason, so the material isn't stretched to breaking point).

Also, it was consistently billed as a four part series even though they filmed six, but now they've seemingly decided to show the other two, but at 11pm on Fridays, which in many ways appears a slightly better slot. What a strangely scheduled show this has been. But no great tragedy, because it's bloody awful, and C4 should not be doing contrived and derivate panel games. Someone pointed out it's the same premise as Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive, only for real.

aren't GP races usually 90-100mins, plus the risk of safety car slowing timings. It wouldn't be that unrealistic to have the race finish at 3pm (missing around one hour's play on centre court)

Those dates are wrong the wednesday is the 25th, thurs 26th and Friday is the 27th.

I would expect to see Ab Fab on Monday at 9.30pm after the EastEnders Olympics special.

Wonder if the 8pm news update will allow BBC1 to split its Opening Ceremony coverage into two reported blocks? If not, the 7-12.30 average won't be great.

The peak of the Opening Ceremony is going to annihilate the Euro 2012 peak.

The entire country - literally everything - is going to be completely overwhelmed by the Olympics. I expect the Olympics will be the lead story on the BBC1 6pm and 10pm news on the Wed and Thur beforehand - all the final preparations, people arriving, speculation re who will light the flame, security, transport issues etc etc.

The average rating for the Opening Ceremony is going to be depressed by the late finish but I think a peak of 25m is easily possible.

Entire country overwhelmed?

Bit dramatic. There'll be a lot in the media but it won't be at the forefront of the majority of people's plans

I don't mean that everyone is going to be personally overwhelmed.

What I mean is that it is going to completely overwhelm all other news / media stories.

I went to see the torch relay on Sunday, and I think as it gets even closer the media will go into overdrive, irrespective of whether it's BBC, Sky or ITV.

It's the biggest event of our generation, even if you don't like the Olympics, chances are you will tune in just to see some of it.

I think it was trickytree1979 who told us that the Royal Wedding reached over 30 million people, I expect the Opening Ceremony to do the same.

Pretty poor for EE, the vile storyline regarding Kat must be revolting viewers galore.

Actually they were criticised in the media for not promoting it - though why they would given that it is 200 miles away, not sure. Just like East Enders did not promote the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002 (though Corrie built a Norris story line around it).

Anyhow, obviously not in response to the media complaints, Corrie last night DID mention the Olympics. Basically one character spoke of her school's sports day and not being interested in sport and was told that the Olympics were coming soon and would she not be interested then either.

I half expected her to say something like - nah,TOWIE will be on the other side. But she kept to a respectful reply that the Olympics were different.

So glad that I'll be away on holiday.

I do feel that the media have decided we must all be whipped into a compulsory frenzy.

Looking at BBC One's figures, I think they will regret moving Murray to BBC Two at 18:00 when you consider that BBC Two beat BBC One in the 18:00 hour. Chances are it would have peaked a lot higher than 7.1m had it stayed on BBC One throughout, with the Regional News at 20:00.

Early days of course, but the 4Seven/More4 comparison is embarrassing.

Had the BBC had any common sense (as i mentioned yesterday) they would have started EastEnders at 8. It was away from the other soaps and of course Midsomer had a 30min lead on it too.Not only was the Lead in Weak but once again the BBC failed to mention EastEnders airing in a 8:30pm slot on a day it doesn't normally air .
