Just commenting on reactions. I tuned in one episode of the week and was bored by it. They need a shake up, and quick! At this point of the year, they should really be getting in the high 7m and low 8m.
Should they?

I'd say the ratings are fine. Anyone expecting high 7m's and low 8m's consistently for the soaps when they are being thrown to pillar to post is unrealistic.

EastEnders is only going to go down to 4 million during the Olympics, during those two weeks on BBC Two it will fluctuate a lot.

There is really little point into reading anything constructive into it's ratings for those two weeks.

Come Monday 13th August the ratings will be back to normal.

I expect a good peak for Big Brother eviction tomorrow given its quite an important eviction (if you follow the show).
I think so too, last night was 1.41 excl +1, would be 1.5m with +1, every single episode since Saturday has risen on the day before. And every show this week has been up the equivalent of last week. You can tell that the eviction is one of the most important.

Well, if we are comparing July ratings of previous few years then it should be getting that, but I have no idea. The Olympics will hurt it a lot. But it will time shift a good amount.

Surely the over-riding point is that a very substantial proportion of the biggest games of the season are played on Sundays.

So it is illogical for the programme which features all these big games to be on BBC2.

Incidentally some of the reports today talk about more games being on Sundays. That's true compared to many years ago but there is certainly no significant difference between the number of games on Sunday next season compared to last season.

So I think this decision is just catching up with what makes sense. The change could easily have been made well before now.

And considering BBC One is cutting back on it's late night slot this seems to be a bit off a bonus to me.

Yes I think if they swap around and look at what other programmes could repeat well in, or make better use of the slot, we could end up with a better schedule than before...

I also think they should just drop the 2 now, and call it Match of the Day: Sunday.. Something that separates it from the Saturday show without making it seem like a spin off....

Yes that's a good idea. Match of the day: Sunday is good. Remember when they did Match Of The Day:The Road To Wembley for the FA Cup highlights. I'm not making that up am I?

Im pretty sure that's Sharons Return week which would make sense as the BBC will want everyone to move Back over to BBC1

I think During the Olympics the BBC3 repeat could see some bigger figures.

The Omnibus will stay on BBC1 friday nights will it not as that's what the BBC stated.

It won't be on until 1am during the Olympics though. And the BBC3 repeat will be at 11pm.

11:00pm on BBC3 sound good. When EastEnders has aired at 11:30/midnight it's rated pretty well.
I think the BBC should introduce a special Omnibus just for 2
weeks. Saturday or Sunday Evening on BBC3

The peak of the Opening Ceremony is going to annihilate the Euro 2012 peak.

The entire country - literally everything - is going to be completely overwhelmed by the Olympics. I expect the Olympics will be the lead story on the BBC1 6pm and 10pm news on the Wed and Thur beforehand - all the final preparations, people arriving, speculation re who will light the flame, security, transport issues etc etc.

The average rating for the Opening Ceremony is going to be depressed by the late finish but I think a peak of 25m is easily possible.
You'd think the country would be interested in The Olympics but I think a fair few might feel left out and see it as a London only thing rather than national. It's biggest problem is that the opening ceremony finishes after midnight. 18m stayed up to watch a snooker final on BBC2 between Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor. Will 20m stay up to watch the end of the opening ceremony? I just don't know.

Yeah. 11pm for EE mightn't be as much of a disadvantage as people might think. Worth bearing in mind the channel does very well normally anyway across the 11pm-1am period with Family Guy repeats followed by repeats of their 9pm documentaries.

Given the poor terrestrial opposition, I think there's a very high chance Dynamo could break 1 million. If I recall his last series on the channel rated very well, just shy of the 1 million mark.

On Monday a women at work was telling me all about it. One of the most amazing thing's shes seen. I've heard a lot of people talking about it too so it could do pretty well. I might have to check it out sometime

Yeah we got to remember that it's most likely alot of the Younger viewers that's likely to catch up with BBC3 (when i say younger i mean 18-25) I think The BBC are bound to advertise it as BBC2 and Repeated on BBC3 at 11.

Lets Get Gold has flopped. No buzz anywhere for it, hardly any posts on DS about it, and the few talking about it saying its a poor show which is a rubbish BGT immitation that couldnt even get a sponsor. I think this will be reflected in its ratings.

the EE ratings will be interesting, and I think the BBC could learn alot about EastEnders, its fans, tis demo, is there more to the BBC 3 repeat, than we already know. Its so rare the BBC get a chance to run any kind of test with EastEnders, this may provide them with this very interesting information.

No doubt Dynamo will have done very well - he has really built up his profile since the last series, which was pretty successful in the first place.

Meanwhile, The CW continues to impress..

The CW aired all-new ep of "The Catalina" Tuesday. Among teens 12-7, it averaged a 0 rating and 0 share. In other words: too low to count.

It's this year's Born to Shine, but in the world of ITV such a flop is acceptable as the big one is back in August. I really think ITV's strategy now is to get all the junk shown in July as they know they have their pools win in the autumn.

Indeed you aren't. They renamed it because the BBC had lost rights to Division 1 coverage (now Premier League) in 1988. I think it stayed that way until the end of the 1991-92 season, because in the next season, they got Premier League highlights in a joint deal with Sky, who would show live matches.

Wednesday 4th July 2012
BBC One
20:30 - EastEnders: 5.42m (24.5%)

ITV1
19:00 - Emmerdale: 5.93m (29.4%), +1: 220k (1.1%)
19:30 - Coronation Street: 6.94m (32.6%), +1: 254k (1.1%)
A rare occasion for Emmerdale to beat EastEnders when they were not clashing. Emmerdale will have been dented by the tennis itself as well.

From the comments above it seems EastEnders is going through a rough patch, time to bring back another character from the past in a massive week of episodes!
