If Parliament outlawed them you wouldn't have anything to moan about.

I'm sure you go out of your way to watch these second tier reality shows just so you can go on about them.

You were a big fan of Big Brother a few series ago!

2 episodes is a rough patch now is it
The last few weeks people were saying how EastEnders is back on Track.

When was the last time a Big Character came back? 2010 Kat and Alfie

It's the inconsistency if anything, that is frustrating. It was great a couple of weeks ago with Michael/Janine/Jean and now we're reduced to drivel like who Kat's secret man is, which is just a silly and tedious story, stuff like Lucy/Joey which I don't buy, etc.

Plus in the last few years we've seen a lot of old characters return. 2008 was Ricky, Carol, Bianca, 2009 was Sam and Billie, Sonia returned for a short while, Kat and Alfie and now Sharon.

Sonia came back for a funeral. Kat & Alfie were the last Characters to be bought back and Sharon is one of those Characters (along with Ricky and Nick) who will pop back every few years.

There's plenty of Massive stuff coming up in the next 8 weeks
Heathers Murder Reveal/Bens Exit
Sharons Return/Kidnap plot
Ians Depression/Homeless
Janines Exit
Carol and the Kids are back

And of course who's doing Kat.

The endless massive episodes where characters leave in an explosive storyline mixed in with massive episodes where characters from the past come back to shake up the square makes EastEnders seem like a revolving door. There is much less of this sort of thing in Coronation Street.

I agree. EastEnders needs to make better use of the characters it's already got frankly and introduce better consistency and all-round episodes. I'm hoping Newman does what Gavin Blyth did to Emmerdale by making each storyline and episode consistently good.

Newman has been working at EastEnders for 17 years and she's gone up in her roles too. I have every Faith in her and the Sharon storyline looks fantastic.

Her first episode is July 16th. If that's bad then we worry

Inconsistent is Kirkwood's middle name.

Didn't realise Lets Get Gold had started - either I've not been paying attention or ITV are keen for nobody to notice it! The scheduling certainly doesn't suggest they have a huge amount of confidence in it. Will have to Sky+ it tonight just to see what it is - I'm somewhat confused as to what the show is about and why Martine McCutcheon is judging!

I'm surprised they didn't put it on from 7.30pm, against Eastenders most nights with Corrie at 9pm and then some awkward results show slotted in at 9.30pm.

This actually seems to be a little bit of common sense scheduling from ITV for once. I was among those in nearly universal agreement that they had to avoid the "News at when". But several years on and it's clear that NaT isn't growing and hasn't benefitted from being protected in its 10pm slot.

Sticking with the current affairs theme, I'm slightly suprised that ITV didn't do an extended 7/7: 7 Years On kind of show in a similar style to the 9/11 doc that did so well for them last year.

If TV and Radio were equal, and the best show got the best ratings then "Welcome to Our Village, Please Invade Carefully" would out rate Going For Gold.

Have I stumbled into the wrong thread?

Just a heads up the Ratings Prediction Game Week 2 has been revised and updated by Fudd. Only Pizzatheaction has submitted his predictions so far, but the schedule has changed since it was posted.

Incidentally some of the reports today talk about more games being on Sundays. That's true compared to many years ago but there is certainly no significant difference between the number of games on Sunday next season compared to last season.

So I think this decision is just catching up with what makes sense. The change could easily have been made well before now.”

I think it makes sense, but I would have preferred renaming it 'Match of the Day' and just having the regular team on it.

Dynamo Magician Impossible returned to Watch with 1.12m (5.32%) - its biggest ever audience by a country mile. @Jake_Kanter

New Dynamo: Magician Impossible kicked off last night with an audience of 1.12m / 83k (+1) - beating last year's opener of 622k / 88k +1. @MichaelRosser

ITV1's sport entertainment show Let's Get Gold got off to a shocker. It scored 2.51m (11.9%) viewers, some 1.7m below slot average. @Jake_Kanter

Beyond excellent for Watch. Hideous for ITV1.

Knew Let's Get Gold would flop. Very poor rating.

Worth pointing out Watch had to pay up for that - against competition from ITV and Channel 4. He's one of the highest paid TV stars in the UK - he got £500,000 to do 8 episodes, along with a hefty slice of DVD sales.

I guess the issue may be whether Lineker would actually want to do both Sat and Sun every week.

Whatever his contract says it could obviously be changed by agreement but it may well be that he just doesn't want to do both nights.

The judges panel alone should have sounded alarms bells at ITV.

It is so dire its ratings could go up!

What is particularly worrying is that Let's Get Gold was ITV's attempt to cash in on the Olympics. All that commercial money going about and people wanting to be associated with it and without actually having the games ITV has this run-up period to soak up the advertising and this is the best they can do... it's embarrassing really.

As others have said - it performed as it was always going to, everyone could see it was another ITV entertainment flop a mile off.

Murray is second on centre, I forgot they only schedule two games there now because the women aren't playing today.

Should cause the same fun and games with the news/One Show later.

Oh dear, ITV. And there's another two nights of it to come.

Predictable that it would flop yes but that result was worse than most feared.

And I imagine with the preceding match, Federer/Djokovic it will be a close contest and may go on for some time. Also rain expected today so they could close the roof at some point adding 45 minutes onto the schedule. Should get onto court approx 4.30.
