Didn't last year's (or 2010's) SF peak at 11m on Friday teatime as the Scottish loser (as was.. ) dropped out?

Total audience was higher across BBC One and BBC Two during that hour than it otherwise would have been.

Why only keep only one set of viewers happy when you could quite easily keep both happy? It's a bit of a no brainer for that reason.

Also we didn't even get the BBC Two peak so I'm not sure the BBC One peaks taken in isolation tell us much. It was always going to peak highly in the 7pm hour due to it containing the conclusion of the match and also the fact that in the meantime viewers were switching on expecting other programmes.

Jake Humphrey asked about this on The One Show.

He says watch F1, then switch over and you'll only miss one set, which is probably right.

I haven't bought a newspaper in many weeks, I know he got a record Watch rating - Chris Evans also just made that point. I did see the first series of Dynamo but will check the schedule for a rerun of the first episode.

It is on at 8pm, will record tonight.....

what if it rains on the F1, and the cars have to adjust how they drive to suit the conditions, that would slow down the race.

Plus they would have to go though a few puddles splash the crowd, that kind of thing.

More to the point, what if the Olympics sees even half of the rain, that those north of the M25 have had recently?

Thought the tennis was a 2.30 ko. If 2.00, then fair enough.

You can tell Robbie isn't really a tennis fan usually but of course has to be when it airs on BBC1

The BBC has no infulence on the start time, it always airs at 2pm. The F1 organisers should have avoided this weekend.

I hope not as I've got tickets for an outdoor event.

As someone else said (D.M.N.?) they have a three week summer break coming up - yet despite having this to play with they've still managed to schedule a race during the Olympics. The F1 planning has been appalling this year.

The Tennis between 13:45 and 18:00 averaged 3.14m (31%). The News hour between 18:00 and 19:00 averaged 3.85m (21.5%).

Given the average of 3.14m, one would assume that the audience gradually built up, surpassing 4 million early in the 17:00 hour, and peaking with 5.1 million.

The channel switch then lost the Tennis one million viewers with an average of 4.09m (23%) between 18:00 and 19:00, yet it still beat the News.

Had the Tennis remained on BBC One, the 18:00 to 20:00 period on BBC One would have had at least 5.1 million or higher, quite possibly an average in the low 6 millions.

Why should the FIA have rejigged the F1 calendar because the Wimbledon finals fall later this year?

Why not the All England old farts? F1 is far bigger than the annual tennis knockabout!

I agree. I'm seriously thinking about watching Wimbledon and watching the race latter because Murry in the final is big. It could be one of the lowest rated British Gp's up against such a big event.

I'm afraid Wimbledon is far bigger. And that is coming from a big F1 fan.

To be fair, the British GP could have easily been on Middle Sunday, maybe:

June 25th - Europe
July 1st - Britain
July 15th - Germany
August 19th - Hungary
September 2nd - Belgian

Thus avoiding Wimbledon and Olympics.

Andy Murray was never expected to make the final, it is a shame that there is a clash, but the best we can hope for is a rain delayed Wimbledon

Quote:
“Latest odds
Wimbledon Final
Roger Federer 8/15 v Andy Murray 9/5

British Grand Prix
Sebastian Vettel 14/5
Lewis Hamilton 9/2
Fernando Alonso 7/1
Mark Webber 12/1”

A £5 double on both Brits would return £77.00!!

At least they'll have Lets Get Gold out of the way in three nights - an awful rating but we all saw it coming.

In terms of doing something for The Olympics, I think they could have had more success doing a kind of "week/month/year in the life of" with Britain's biggest Olympic stars. Their preparation, highlights from their 2008 wins, maybe some stuff with them training the next generation of hopefuls. Get someone with a bit of personality and an interest in sport to front it (Dara O'Brien, perhaps). Can't have done any worse than Lets Get Gold, that's for sure!

Sunday rating for Wimbledon should be massive - first time in over 70 years and I'm sure the papers will be plastered with it tomorrow. Hopefully Federer isn't really back to his best!

I must have missed your RPG entry.

The average prediction was 1 million higher at 3.5m.

People might think BBC Sport is a bit of a spent force now, but this summer they have had one massive audience for the England/Italy game, a potential for an equally big rating on Sunday if Murray makes it a nail biter, and then huge ratings expected for the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies and possibly 10 million plus if British athletes do well, which I think they will. Also there is the open and the grand prix season this summer.
Meanwhile Sky will be sulking as they have been relegated this summer for once, only the cricket is their major contract for the next six weeks, and ITV only have the Tour de France until the ECL starts.

I believe that Bill & Sian will present Olympic Breakfast just once together which is on Friday 27th.

Yes, I should maybe do that again. I see I've slipped down the winners list thanks to yourself and George seemingly winning every week of the last season!

I guess you could say 2.5m was below expectations. I'd not have gone as high as 3.5m anyway. Possibly not as low as 2.5m. Even if it had managed 3m, I doubt it would have held onto it. In short, it's a flop and it has looked like it would turn out that way for quite a while.

I saw an advert somewhere a couple of hours ago and it still hasn't served to answer any of my confusion as to what the show is all about.

It is now, this year, on these shores, in light of todays events.

But come on - tennis ranking bigger in the global sports pecking order than F1?!

You cannot be serious....!

It was me. And it's actually a 5 week gap, 4 whole weekends without action. And they still managed to schedule a GP during the Olympics.

In Canada a few weeks ago they had to move the race to accommodate a Euro 2012 game, but I'm not sure how late that decision was made - I think it was probably weeks ahead. Bit late now to have to move the British GP - they'll just have to put up with it.

Digiguide have updated for the week upto the Opening Ceremony but really doesn't tell us anything.

ITV has 'The Unforgettable' at 9pm on Opening Ceremony night, while C4 has The Million Pound Drop as usual. There's nothing more to report - lots of TBA's and things we know are wrong - eg, The One Show and EastEnders on the Friday night. We'll know lots more on Tuesday.

Will Big Brother beat Let's Get Gold tonight? If Big Brother gets a boost due it being a big eviction and Let's Get Gold sees a decline they could be close. Let's Get Gold should just beat Big Brother but...

They don't fall later. Someone posted a list of dates before; it's fallen on this weekend before. In comparison the British Grand Prix has been moved all over the place:

2000: 23 April
2001: 15 July
2002: 7 July
2003: 20 July
2004: 11 July
2005: 10 July
2006: 11 June
2007: 8 July
2008: 6 July
2009: 21 June
2010: 11 July
2011: 10 July
2012: 8 July

Oops, sorry Cent. What were they thinking with their scheduling this year?
