He hasn't posted a single programme average all tournament, so why are you wondering now?

I think the obsession with peaks is confined mainly to the tabloid press and, to some extent, on here as well. Ultimate in 'Ratings Porn' as Robbie extremely succinctly put it.

In terms of overall ratings, they come as secondary importance to demographics for commercial broadcasters at least.

For something like last night's Wimbledon from 5.50 - 10.15 the average is not meaningful or informative at all. For dramas it's more about averages, for sport and live events I think peaks are usually much more interesting IMO.

I can understand that about sport. Perhaps an hourly average for extended broadcasts like that is more useful.

I have heard all about your rolling eyes I did just realise I was getting match slot averages from another Twitter source.....

8.06m is pretty decent, last night I did predict 12m peak and 8m+ average ... My RPG estimate was 8.5m made last weekend.

Although, peaks for dramas are useful for broadcasters/ advertisers in ascertaining how much, if any, drop-off there will be in viewing figures next week. Case in point is Titanic - the drop off in viewers within episodes was quite staggering IIRC.

The falling demo is definitely worrying.

It premiered to a strong 1.5 and is already down to a 1.1?
And next week its bound to take a massive nosedive, down to maybe a 0.8

There's no doubt it will get a 2nd season but it's not the massive success people thought it would be.

Very average ratings for Hollyoaks, but they pulled off an amazing and unexpected twist in last night's E4 episode so it'll be interesting to see tonight's ratings. The serial killer somehow returns next week too, so it looks like they're trying to turn things around after a dismal year so far.

BB got 1.38m excluding +1? That's quite a rise!
It's on the DS page.

Big Brother scored 1.38m in the ratings last night (unsure if that includes +1), a big jump on the past couple of episodes.

Extraordinary People also did well in the 9pm slot for C5 scoring 1.2m.

Define massive success? If you mean comfortably becoming one of the most watched dramas on cable, and one of TNTs most watched shows then it fits the bill.

Nobody expected it to get the 35 million viewers a week it did back the in 80s and 90s. What we wanted is what we got, a high quality update of the Ewing story which stayed true to the best elements of the original series at its best.

At 1.1 it equaled the performance of CBS and ABC for the night to.

There is no way of knowing how it will rate next week as its quite unusual for a network to air a first run drama on the 4th of July. However the episode is being aired at the end of a 5 hour Dallas marathon so clearly TNT are trying to make an event of it.

I don't think that's a correct statement to make since it's rating are continuing to fall.

Rizzoli and Isles had 1 and a half million more viewers this week then Dallas the night before....with the same demo rating, 1.1

Frankin and Bash got a 1.0 in the demo, just 0.1 below Dallas....

Falling Skies hit a series low this week with 1.3 in the demo, in its 2nd year....

It's already been reported that it is close to renewal already (along with Rizzoli & Isles and Falling Skies) .. but If the ratings don't level off soon it probably won't make it past 2 seasons.

Dallas has surely sold well around the world though - based on its past success?

This will give it a wider audience that has to effect overall judgement on the show if not the channel it appears on in the US.

Cheers D.M.N for all off those ratings. People worrying about Wimbledon the other day had nothing to worry about. It's performing very well as usual.

BBC One not having 2hrs off kids TV will really help the audience share this week and next. I wonder if we will see BBC One's audience share increase a little when they get rid of children's TV because at the moment it looks as if it performs badly. I don't know the exact ratings so I could be wrong.

In an age of Digital TV Kids TV should be on CBBC and CBeebes. My kids if they want to watch children's TV they go to CBBC. They Do not even consider watching BBC One. They do however consider watching BBC One for "Grown Up" TV. I a shocked with all off the channels there are how much BBC my kids watch!

I just do not understand why people are against Children's TV being Axed from BBC One and Two. It's the logical thing to do.

Its a 3 week old series and as was pointed out when +3 were added it rated 6.1million total viewers last week.

Of course its close to renewal its TNTs second highest rating drama and second on US basic cable atm. Once again TV ratings were down across the board on Wednesday.

As neither of us work for Warner we don't know what expectations they have for the new series but the prime motivation for the new show was the success of the DVD releases a couple of years back.

Yes, a 3 week old show who's ratings are falling very quickly.

Most of TNT's show's increase dramatically with +3 ratings anyway,
Rizzoli and Isles increased this week to 7.2 mill with +3..... as how in its 3rd season ..

Because they did it years before Digital Switchover...

Not really, they thought the Ireland games would be a very big draw but turned out they weren't and two Germany group games on the Beeb rated higher. Then the BBC's fourth choice quarter final rated higher than both of ITV's and with no semi-final, the ITV team are stuck out there for over a week with no game just to work on the final that will get trounced by the BBC coverage anyway.

The Eviction tonight should make higher ratings I think 1.8million.
