Well done Jeff Ford, who has correctly identified that Jay Hunt has screwed up C4 news, and that its audience is now there for the taking.

Robbie is just a little envious that the bigger/better sporting event will take pride of place on the BBC's flagship channel.
A Hamilton/Button win wouldn't even pull in a peak of 6m viewers!

That was the 3D simulcast - pretty impressive actually, didn't think there were so many sets out there, especially a year ago.
There is no way (as much as Derek500 would like to believe) that 140k watched the 2011 Wimbledon final in 3D. |

The official numbers never made the BBC HD top 10. An overnight reporting error.

So far, the only 3D broadcasts the BBC has made have been of the men's and women's Wimbledon tennis finals this Summer, which Mosey said was "pretty successful," attracting about 140,000 viewers.

The relatively slow growth of 3D is noted by the BBC, who claim that their coverage of the 2012 Olympic Games will require a key balance between ‘minority’ innovation such as 3D (the recent experiment of Wimbledon Tennis in 3D drew a peak of 140,000 viewers), and the more mainstream coverage, including, digital, HD, online and interactive services.

There would be some degree of crossover, given that the C4 News skews young and male.
And the C4 News audience IS down. Even Ofcom recently voiced concern about it. |

The news bulletins have been all over Wimbledon. Murray was the top story on BBC, ITV, Channel 5 and Sky last night (didn't see Channel 4).
This was last year's Murray semi-final day rating as a reminder (courtesy of D.M.N. in Part 21): Friday 1st July 2011 BBC One 13:45 - Wimbledon 2011: 6.09m (44.1%) * 15-minute peak: 9.29m (42.1%) 20:30 - BBC Regional News: 2.98m (14.2%) 21:00 - My Family: 4.31m (20.9%) 21:30 - Miranda: 3.63m (17.9%) 22:45 - The Graham Norton Show: 3.40m (24.0%) BBC Two 19:00 - The One Show: 1.33m (6.3%) * all time low 20:00 - Today at Wimbledon: 971k (4.6%) 21:00 - The Kennedys: 1.32m (6.4%) 21:45 - The Kennedys: 1.25m (6.5%) Watching BBC Breakfast this morning it is taking the two pronged approach of Murray in singles final and Marray in doubles final. Incidentally the doubles final is today, could we be seeing record figures for it? This was last years figures for women's singles final and men's and women's doubles finals day (yet again courtesy of D.M.N. in Part 21): Saturday 2nd July 2011 BBC One 13:00 - Wimbledon 2011: 2.81m (28.46%) * 2.90m (33.85%) at 14:10 * 4.78m (45.24%) at 15:35 [peak] 21:00 - Casualty: 4.94m (23.8%) 21:50 - Lee Mack’s All Star Cast: 3.15m (16.52%) * series low The media are all over Murray, I can see a high average and a huge peak on Sunday afternoon, whether Murray wins or loses. The interest is going to be phenomonal. Incidentally, people are being told to stay away from Silverstone qualifying today due to flooding. Couldn't have turned out much worse for them, and that's coming from an F1 fan. |

Am I right in thinking Sky are funding the transmission costs of the 24 SD and HD Olympic channels they're providing to the BBC? Bit annoying for them if they can't be promoted properly. However the BBC are bound to refer to the ways to watch frequently (albeit generically on 'satellite').

There is no way (as much as Derek500 would like to believe) that 140k watched the 2011 Wimbledon final in 3D. Last year's final averaged 18k!! Sky's 3D subscriber base has tripled in the last year, so figures could be much better, but hindered by not being live but on a ninety minute time delay because of F1. |

11.4m is a fantastic peak - is that a 5 minuter or 15?

Super peak for Murray! The out-of-slot regional news and One Show did well against the soaps. Let's Get Gold loses almost 2:1 to a New Tricks repeat!

Fantastic peak yesterday. No idea how high it will peak tomorrow though.
Humiliating for Let's Get Gold. |

Is the 2nd Coronation Street rating the full slot rating? It seems a big drop on the 7:30 rating otherwise.

I didnt think wimbledon was on bbc2 at 6.30pm?
![]() All-day shares for yesterday: BBC 1: 29.4%, ITV1 inc +1: 14.5% (from C4 Sales) I wonder if the BBC 10pm news saw a boost as so many missed the 6pm? |

C5 cut the livecoverage from 60 mins to 30 mins |
