And despite Brekkie moaning I don't see the problem with non-sports presenters involved in the general Olympics hoopla. Look at Adrian Chiles, he hadn't presented any sport before he did MOTD2 but he loved football and was a breath of fresh air. I don't see why the likes of Bill Turnbull - who is an absolutely demented football fan - and Alex Jones don't have the skill to present - not commentate, not pundit - a few colour pieces in the Olympics.”
I doubt Sophie Raworth or Jane Hill have been counting down the days till the Olympics coming to Britain long before London bid for them though - it really should be the BBC Sport team leading those Olympic Countdown programmes.
Adrian Chiles did well on Olympic Breakfast four years ago and actually the fact he wasn't so clued up on many of the sports worked in his favour back then. I'll take your word that Bill Turnbull is an "absolutely demented football fan" - don't see it myself and he's certainly not as established a fan in the public eye as Chiles was prior to his BBC Sport days.
My main issue with the BBC coverage is Mischal Hussain hosting the morning slots when she hasn't hosted any live sporting programme for the BBC in the past - indeed the only thing Olympic related I've seen her do was the opening of the Aquatics Centre, and there she was more reporter than presenter - although that said the people the BBC are billing as leading each slot are in most cases actually only the secondary studio presenter as this year it is more about who hosts what rather than who hosts when.
