I've just had a quick read, all those 'famous' fms. where's JTW, swingaleg, koantemplation, Charlotte's web, dome, Snozzwangler, Toxic Lemon to name a few?

I will have a good read later when I have more time.

and how could I forget geraniums?

swingaleg and koantemplation were definitely around a lot last year, not sure about this year, though.

I had a read through a lot of that thread. The one thing that struck me was that Brian was so popular as a winner. He's not so popular now, is he? I'm sorry he ever got that blasted job; he'd be much better in a less scripted environment. Such a brilliant housemate.

Yes, I do remember them being here last year, I am surprised I have not seen them this year.

I loved Brian, he is still one of my favourite hms.

MRS LAWSON and JTW have been banned.

I didn't know anything about that but I thought her incredibly vulgar and she started some very tasteless threads.

Do you remember Jenni Trent-Hughes being here on the forum? She was here for a number of years until some bright sparks starting laying into her over her weight issues and telling her that she wasn't fit to raise her child. Un-bloody-believable how people think they can talk to others just because they are hiding behind the anonymity of a keyboard.
People who are well known seem to attract extreme reactions of sycophancy and flattery on one side and hostility on the other. Both attitudes can be annoying. And the well known posters can be annoying also. He was combative and could be nasty. Well, in fact that could apply to both of them.

IIRC Geraniums said somewhere at the end of UBB she wasn't going to watch if the show ended up on Five and she hasn't been seen since

Exactly Wonkey...have mentioned this myself. It actually becomes so annoying it taints your support of that particular hm. Quite ironic really but it certainly got on my nerves with Aaron last year. He became "godlike" inspite of everything he did to the contrary.

The forum does seem to reach a tipping point in each series, after which you are expected to be either 100% in favour of someone or 100% against them

I do feel as though I'm going against the grain when I try to discuss the faults of HMs I like or the merits of those I don't

I prefer it here in the earlier weeks before people become entrenched

This forum is dominated by people always rooting for the supposed underdogs. Doesn't matter if they are or not, a few get chosen and they are untouchable.
It's usually against majority opinion.
So this forum is not a very interesting place to post if you are generally mainstream (outside DS)in your opinions.

Last year was somewhat different, unusually mainstream and DS concured.

But for somebody like me, posting here is an uphill battle. The only enjoyable thing is that I'm usually onside with whoever wins or at least is in the last two.

SG-1 has stopped posting here this year because of the overblown hyperbole about certain HM. I'm finding it less and less enjoyable.

It's not much fun when there are 3/4 threads on the first page about HM being the equivalent of Bealzebub him/herself simply because they aren't laden with a multitude of hang ups and issues they have brought into the house.
Or reading page after page of vitriol directed against a HM because they are quite confident or popular within the house.

I think the Live Feed teasing was the last straw for many of the "old guard" and a lots have just given up.

Aside from that issue, this is the first series of BB where I honestly couldn't care about any of the housemates. They're all TOWIE clones.

Lol. That's more like it. And in my case, undoubtedly true at times. It is always flattening when I meet an FM who is far more literate, penetrating and well-informed than I am. Occasionally I have had to pretend to go on holiday for a few days and hope no one has noticed my day of shame.
Hi Wonkey, I have actually been on holiday, had a great time but am now back to enjoy some of the banter on here. Have you got a favourite this year yet? I quite like Lauren and Deana and Luke A. Dont mind Sara but wish she would keep away from Ashleigh and Shievonne!

Can still see wonkeydonkey, to be fair.

Rules-wise, this isn't meant as a comment on other posters per se, it's meant as a comment on where Big Brother's gotten to. (Yes, 'gotten to', heh.)

Kill it, kill it now. Put it out of its misery.
Writing as an outsider, I think some of those you lust for are struggling to engage in meaningful conversation their threads or thoughts are discarded.

Engagement has to be lovey dovey or punchy, in yer face and less than 140 characters.

Follow these rules and you will one day rise and be able to contribute to an appreciation thread.

I couldn't agree more.

The fandom is getting right on my last nerve.

It's bordering on obsessive at times. The 'chosen one' is not allowed to be nominated, or disagreed with by anyone. It's very tiring to say the least.

Then there are a few that are obsessed with anything that vaguely resembles a romance...give me strength.
