Firefly - Reunion at Comic Con

Are you a Browncoat attending this year’s San Diego Comic Con? Well, you might want to sit down. I’ve got some pretty major news for you.
The Science Channel announced today that it is holding a special 10 year anniversay panel for FIRELY. Cast members including Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyk, Sean Maher and more will attend. Creator Joss Whedon and producer Tim Minear will also be there. But wait, there’s more! Science says it’ll reveal “never-before-seen footage, along with numerous buzz-worthy surprises.”
Now I'm not expecting the announcement of a new show but they will be discussing the future of Firefly.

Quote:
FIREFLY 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Friday 7/13/12, 12:30 p.m.–1:30 p.m., Room: 20
It has been 10 years since the crew of Serenity took flight in Joss Whedon’s short-lived but now revered series, FIREFLY. SCIENCE will reconvene, for the first time in a decade, Captain Mal Reynolds and the crew from the ship, calling all Browncoats to unite at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. The cast of FIREFLY will talk about the past, present and future of FIREFLY, 10 years after its debut. SHINY
More Comics? A video game? Another film (if only)?

There's a 10 year anniversary book coming out in October. A sequel to Serenity would be a dream, and not impossible if they really want to do it. But I'm not getting my hopes up.

If Summer Glau and Jewel Staite were attending I'd be on the plane already!

Maybe with the success of "Castle" they might consider Nathan Fillion more of a draw who could tempt casual fans to watch a sequel ?

That would be the key to getting another one made, whether or not they could make money out of it.

True. I suppose the cast would potentially agree to lower fees to get it made. Although scheduling could be tricky, especially for Fillion and Morena Baccarin.

But as you said, with Castle doing well and the success of Homeland people might be a little more drawn to a cinema release.

I read somewhere that the reunion was filmed and will be aired on TV, but not until November time. Can't remember what channel, but I'll post it in here when I come across it.

I think the chance of a new film or series are fading as everyone gets older - what I don't get is crap like the Resident Evil movies get sequel after sequel and something brilliant like Firefly gets nothing

Apparently Joss liks the idea of a radioplay/audio dramatisation thing over a new movie - someone should put him in touch with the people over a Graphic Audio (dot) Net.

It would be great to have some kind of sequel. I love the series and Serenity.
