When we had a cockerel we used to get eggs with blood spots.

No eggs now 'cos no chucks.

Good morning. Probably straight down to San Diego. Santa Monica has changed beyond all recognition in the past 14 years since I was last here.

Sounds as if you are having a lovely time though Gemo.

If I were to tour America, I'd have to do it in a greyhound bus (well a small part, 1 stop )

The weather here today was bloody awful, you could hardly see your hand in front of your face with the haar! Yet there will still idiots driving with no lights on & overtaking on blind bends. Absolutely astonishing!

The sun has come out about an hour ago, but it's really muggy, I wouldn't be surprised if we do get thunder.

We had the huge storm, an absolute deluge that flooded the garden but only a slight bit of lightening. We stayed in the garden throughout. Elfy paddled and it was past his ankles at one point. We were soaked to the skin, it was lovely.
My daughter has gone out to buy a union Jack (not flag ) gazebo.

I wonder why. Perhaps he chased them, which encouraged the blood vessels to burst or maybe swiped the parts of feed containing vitamin k?

A fox got our remaing three a week before we left. Don't know whether to restock with bantams and keep the enclosed or to try quail. I would be lost without some kind of poultry.

It's still nice and Venice beach was as I remembered it. Easier in some ways, we didn't have to trek 5 blocks for dinner.

I always thought it was undeveloped embryos. They stopped appearing as soon as the cockerel went. The cockerels didn't swipe food at all, he would take a piece and put it down of a hen and cluck encouragement for her to take it. Not much chasing either, we had a drake that was bad for that, species didn't matter so long as it had feathers. We put him on the river after he outlived our ducks.

Scotty lasted the longest out of all of them. All her wee chicks were gone long before she did.

I haven't bought bedding plants for the last 3 years, it's pointless they just become waterlogged! I planted loads of seeds too (wild-flowers & seeds to encourage the bees) not bloody one of them have come up!

Just a burst blood vessel apparently. I think having quail would be lovely, but are they dificult to look after?
It sounds as if your cockerel was a real character.

The problem is there's no law for daytime driving in bad conditions, maybe an advisory one but what good is that.

I think the old saying, See & Be Seen isn't remembered.

I use the principle that if the visibility isn't as good as it could be then you should have your head lights on.

Side lights should never be used unless they are required by bylaw for parking in the dark on a public highway when the spenn limit is 40mph or more.

I'll never buy another bedding plant, or Annual, the perennials i bought this year are flowering all ready, all my garden except the grass, is in pots, even the meadow flowers.

afternoon all you afternoon people

i went out and i saw some mates. it was a bit weird, or i was weird, one of the two i struggled with normal conversation a bit, thinking 'what are they saying to me?' that's quite usual for being at this rather ill point i think. i recognise it anyway.

and i ate [some of] my greens. please can i have some cherry trifle now for climbing the terrible mountain of terror today?

scots you need an ark up there! have you got a garden shed? i can personally move into it and spend my days syphoning your garden.

we haven't had the promised rain yet. nothingness weather again.

A lightning strike on the Tyne Bridge

The rain here was torrential today, and there have been flash floods all over the place, sun's out now, and I'm pleased to say that the sheltered position has protected my delphiniums and they're still standing
