Laptop

Ive got a desktop computor, now Im thinking of buying a laptop to use off line... maybe get gimp and basic photoshop in there and attach a graphics pad.

Maybe in an emergency I could get online with it... hopefully Ill be able to transfer lots of pics from my desk top to work on .

Any advice on what to get ? never had a laptop before.

I have a Sony vaio and my wife has an asus, they're both used a great deal both on line and off line, go to one of the superstores and try a few, I wouldn't be without mine. Think what you want to do with it and what size screen you need etc.

Couldn't you have at least given us your approximate budget?

Don't think of the internet as an 'emergency option'. You will need internet connectivity to download updates for Windows and your Anti Virus, as well as general browsing/downloads.

For a laptop this, sensibly, means that you need WiFi so budget for a suitable router as well.
